Can it be used in a car?

At 19" wide and several inches deep, requiring a/c power, I can't envision a situation where it would be practical to use this product in a car. Also, electrical noise from car electronics would be a factor.

If using xlr to rca connector will it make noise?

Can the rack "ears" be cut off ? I have a very strict width limit

Any ears can be cut off, but I would be very careful. If you damage the corners, the integrity of the cabinet is gone.

How is this compare to dbx 1231? Which model make less electrical noise?

hum noise depending how you are feeding all your equipment, for the money I haven't had any noise issues but this is not a traveling rig, eb tec Hum ex units would be advisable as a back up
