Can you put a buffer pad on this?

It is not recommended by the manufacturer DEWALT to use a buffer pad with this random orbital sander. This random orbit sander has been designed for sanding wood, metal, plastics and painted surfaces.

Can I charge the battery using supplied kit charger using Australian power point?

DeWalt batteries can be charged on any charger that works in your country. I charge my DeWalt batteries in NZ on a charger I bought in NZ. I threw away the US charging units that come with the DeWalt tools I purchased at USA Amazon. But make sure that Amazon will ship the battery. Many courier companies will NOT accept large Li-Ion batteries.

Would this be good to sand down a deck?

I would not use this for a deck project. The head is only 5" in diameter and I feel this sander does an excellent job on small projects such as sanding down furniture. I would think a belt sander would work much better.
