You have nothing to lose
Like many, I was skeptical of all the positive reviews around a book that seemed a bit gimmicky, but I have found this to be the most compelling self-help book I’ve read thus far regarding alcohol (and I’ve read quite a few). This is an easy read HOWEVER I believe it only works if you really take your time to reflect and apply the principles to your own life and situation - just rushing through it may leave you disappointed. I highly recommend having a highlighter and/or journal with you as well to really process the concepts as they relate to you, and take your time with each chapter. I could have read it in a night but I spent about 10 days with it and I’m glad I did it that way because it’s really the journey that helps you recognize the flaws in drinking, not necessarily the words on the pages. Overall I found it to be extremely insightful in helping me recognize the truth behind alcohol and our “perceived” value, and that you have nothing to lose by giving it up.As for this being geared towards women, I was skeptical about that part as well and considered buying the original book instead, but it was refreshing (coming from AA where everything is refereed to as he/him) and included challenges and cultural stigmas women face which are truly relevant.I only gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 because it has a lot of unnecessary repetition - but maybe for some that’s helpful.

If reading it once didn’t help, read it again!
I’ve been struggling to quit alcohol for a very long time. It became a nightly ritual for a few years. A bottle of wine per night wasn’t always enough.I couldn’t stand myself in the morning, promised to myself that last night was the last night but it never was. It became a big problem in my life…I lost self respect, self worth…I was a disaster every morning, desperate for help. I knew this book would help because his other book helped me quit smoking. I listened to audio book and nothing changed. Then I decided to order this one and read it. Read it first time and nothing. 3 weeks later I read it again, in only 3 days. I am now out of the trap for 4 weeks. It’s just gone…all the desire, all the excuses to drink…just dissolved.Please read it more than once if needed and don’t drag it for weeks, try to read it thoroughly but without breaks.

I wasn’t happy in my drinking life.Read the whole book, start a new life chapter. I’m moving on.

great motivator
I have been increasingly ambivalent about my drinking for the last 2-3 years but more recently have been considering quitting. I read more string the facts of drinking and the negative effects in most and brain but this book provides a very different perspective that really caught my attention. My husband and I did “ dry January” then reduced our drinking and I became aware of reduced urges, headaches with red wine and more awareness of how quickly I felt worse rather than better. My last drink was a week ago and on my 55th birthday just 3 days ago as I tried to recall a birthday with no alcohol ( I couldn’t) I decided that was the day I was stopping. I began reading this book 2 days ago and I’m done. This book has reinforced my desire to quit and I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing anything. I’m excited to feel better, sleep better and have space for things in my life that really fulfill me.

Works if you put you mind to it
I read the book and it definitely brought a new perspective about my relationship with alcohol. I am more self-aware and stay away from alcohol despite occasional cravings. I didn't do the pledge at the end because I'm doing a one-year commitment but if I were to stop completely, I'll probably read the book again, twice, to make sure it sticks, and then make the pledge.

I swear by this book!
I was desperate to find help to quit drinking. I’ve bought supplements, tried cold turkey, mind games, YouTube hypnosis videos.. nothing was working for me.I started off with a different book by a different author which was not resonating with me, but she mentioned *this* book.. I put hers down and ordered this one.I nervously, skeptically started reading.. I was hopefully.. but I’d been drinking wine daily! 1 glass always ended with 1 bottle.. always.. everything triggered it too. I read the book, followed his instructions, and quit! I am honestly shocked! And so very happy about it.. I’m currently 90+ days in.I recommended this book 10000% and I wish you the best 🌸

This book will change your life. I can never go back now, that I know what I know. If you are thinking about this, and you d read this far, you want this book.

Reckless advice on withdrawal
I like and agree with the basic ideas about addiction in this book. However, I lost some respect for him because of the careless way he talks about physical withdrawal, as if it is nothing worth even thinking about. I know people who have been hospitalized with seizures from alcohol withdrawal. If a person drinks enough for a long enough time, the physical withdrawal from going cold turkey can be very dangerous. Alcohol is one of just a few drugs where the withdrawal CAN actually kill you.

Absolutely WORKS.
This book worked. Period. I had my doubts going into it, but by the time I was supposed to have my last drink I didn't want to. I finished the book a month ago and haven't even WANTED to have a drink since. I went from having at least one drink a day to wondering why I ever wanted to drink in the first place. Go in with an open mind and let the book work its magic. And, of course, it helps if you actually want to stop drinking. Worth every penny!!

This book sealed the deal
I knew I wanted to make this change for my health, but wasn't exactly sure how to do it. This book helped me gain a perspective that sealed the deal. I don't have to bargain with myself that this is 'just for now.' I don't have to worry about how to handle social situations. I'm now a non-drinker, and I no longer have any desire to drink. It's been three weeks now, and I've had zero cravings for even a glass of wine, which I had consumed habitually almost every day.
