Nice product
I made the creamy mushroom soup as my first attempt and was very pleased with the result. I will have to change my buying habits to make sure I have stock, cream and vegetables on hand but the result will be a more healthy soup for the winter months. I did feel that the soup maker was a bit expensive though. But I feel is a nice addition to the kitchen and I is very easy to clean.

Sadly died in 3 months
This was excellent for over 2 months. During making soup it beeped and stopped mixing. It heats but nothing else. I contacted Amazon to see if there was a warranty and received an email telling me that I had NOT purchased it from them despite having both bank and order purchase records that I purchased in the beginning of September this year, no warranty information, no way to contact the seller or manufacturer. I suspect that it was leaking something into the soup because there was a terrible smell to the soup. I cannot recommend that anyone purchase this machine due to the dangers presented and refusal of Amazon's to help.

Would recommend purchasing to my friends.
I liked the way it mixed the ingredients and it’s so easy to clean. Also, does not take up a lot of space on kitchen counter.

Works, simple, but leaves you wishing for a bit more flexibility
The review of how it works: So far, it works pretty much as advertised. We've made a chicken soup (chunky), a country vegetable soup (chunky), chili (chunky), and a creamy potato corn chowder with bacon (smooth, with corn and cooked bacon added after cooking). It is "set it and forget it" by necessity of the design, actually more so than I would really desire. If you open the top part-way through a cycle, it resets, and your only choice is to start one of the cycles from the beginning. So you can't add or check anything part way through cooking. I figured that out while messing around learning about it with just water, so it didn't wreck any food.(For the creators / marketers: It'd be nice if you could adjust for the time already gone in a cycle, or if it offered a few more cycles. I do appreciate simplicity, but this seems limiting functionality unnecessarily. (I think the UK model does offer more cycle options.) It would be nice, for instance if RV camping or in a dorm situation, if you could use this to make mac & cheese, or rice & beans, but I'm not sure how the chunky setting would work for those foods. More flexibility would make it feel less like a single-purpose product and a more efficient use of appliance storage space.)The stirring / blender part does a good job. The chowder was smooth, and none of the soups had anything more than very minor scorching (not burnt) on the bottom, which didn't affect flavor at all and was easily scrubbed out with a dish rag, so you aren't sitting there stirring a pot while the soup cooks - it does that for you, and cleanup was pretty easy. The stainless steel has a decent finish on it.It is obviously MUCH faster than a crock pot, and the automatic stir / blend options wouldn't be there. It is probably similar to a pot on the stove top and a "stick blender" and an automatic stirring device, but more compact and less cleanup than all of that put together.Unless something changes, we'll probably continue to use this, and if the situation fits, this might be a nice gift as long as the limitations don't bother the recipient(s).Just FYI - This appears to be identical to other products offered on Amazon (US & UK) for a much lower price (other than packaging). We bought ours (this brand) at a "home and garden show" at a convention center (to which the seller added in printouts of several extra recipes with US rather than metric measurements) for significantly less than the current Amazon advertised price. (Those recipes, and the ones in the book, have been pretty good so far.) We consider it an "OK value" at the lower price, but probably wouldn't at the higher price currently shown.

Returned
Just didn't do everything right. Burned a lot of soup want too heat something then blend a little and it would not re start right as you have takeon off the top again. For the money you buy things cut up and thorough them in a $ 15.00 crock pot

The kitchen appliance I never knew I needed - and fell in love with!
I used my soup maker for the first time today! I made a (modified) broccoli soup from the recipe booklet included. So simple and easy to use! And the soup turned out delicious! I added a little Fage (non-fat greek yogurt,) to thicken it up and it turned out so creamy! And the cleanup was super easy with the blend/self-clean mode! Can't wait to get creative with my next healthy recipes! Such a great addition to my boring kitchen appliances. I'm in love.

Awesome
There is nothing to dislike about this soup maker. My daughter lives in England and has one which looks almost identical but hers is a Morphy Richards. I absolutely love this soup maker and wish I had bought one years ago. My husband loves soup and I do not but the way this machine makes creamy soup is so good. Also, it is so easy with very little clean up.
