Great to hone hook knives
Exactly what I needed to hone a couple of hook knives and some larger gouge chisels. Beaver craft provides for my needs. A robust line of products, stencils, and tutorials.

Solid hook sharpening kit.
Works real well, take a bit to learn. No complaints yet.

A satisfactory device
The shape is good for hook knives and even straight blades, if you are careful not to wear the sandpaper out in one spot. Biggest difficulty is changing sandpaper. Hard to get the wooden wedges to lock in if the paper is even a little out of position.

Perfect for curved blades!
I used it on a Karambit bladed knife. Using 2000 grit sandpaper, I was able to grind a new profile, and then lapped on the leather side.I had spent dozens of hours trying to do this with sharpening stones and rods, to no avail.Liked it so much I immediately bought another one.

Beavercraft strop
The best strop for hook knives. A must have for wood carvers.

Good to have for gouges and crook knives
this thing is probably the best thing I have bought from beaver craft, good way to strop gouges and crook knives, wish they made them like a flat strop though with one side suede leather and the other side smooth, but they do send 2 pieces for fine grit sand paper to “clamp” in. I do not care for those nor the clamping mechanism they use(two rather thin pieces of wood that fit into a groove in the strop to hold the sandpaper in). Do not know what kind of leather they use for this either but it is slick and does not take polishing compound easy at first but since i have had mine a while it is starting to take polishing compound a bit easier.

You can never go wrong with Beavercraft.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:This strop block is amazing. These are made specifically for beavercraft hook knives, but I have several different brands and they all fit well in the grooves. One side is leather, the other is a place to put fine sand paper. I like to use 1500 grit to touch up my edges after using my knives on really hard wood. I think this feature sets this product far above everything else.
