I would have had some lube (silicone)? on from factory.

Leaking valve
Valve started leaking after about 5-6 weeks after installing, I also removed after installing new valve to make sure seals were good and correctly installed, still leaks

Worked perfectly!
I initially purchased new seals... removed, cleaned and re-sealed my original valve.I'm sure that might work some of the time... but after doing that and still having a leak I would strongly recommend just changing the valve outright!This unit was a direct replacement for my original (we purchased out trailer from a dealership - during the winter in Norther Ontario only to discover after picking it up that it was traded in with FULL TANKS and not emptied before storage).The black water valve had a slow leak and this new valve stopped it.Changing the valve is not hard - but getting to it isn't easy. Do it right the first time!
