Very accurate guide with lots of interesting information!
We absolutely loved this book. My husband and I are new to the UK. We spent the last 5 years living in New Zealand and have missed the outdoors over the past 6 months in London. So, we went on a 5-day wild camping hike in the Lake District. We used this circuit as a guide but adapted it to wild camping rather than staying in villages. We did three of the high-level days and two low-level (valley) days. The descriptions of the routes were incredibly accurate and helpful. And, we loved that we ended up in quite remote places, away from the crowds. The book offered interesting bits of history about the region - which was a lovely bonus. If you're looking for a multiday hike to explore the Lake District, definitely pick up this gem.

Cicerone Tour of Lake District
Book is set out nice and clearly with lots of good information such as places to stay (hotels, B&B, campsites etc), places to eat,. There are some good high level walks also included depending on your ability and fitness levels. The low level routes present an interesting alternative and follow some of the old pack horse trails of the Lakes. The walk is 92 miles in total and it is divided up into manageable stages. I also bought the Cicerone guide for Chamonix which we completed a lot of the walks two summers ago and this was also very useful and informative.

Fantastic walk - really useful book
Did the whole walk exactly as described in this book. Did the low level route as we were back packing / camping every night therefore carrying tent, food and cookware etc. The book was really useful for planning daily mileage, camp-sites, where to replenish food and water etc. Book is an easy read, not too verbose with just enough route description to aid navigation and know what the coming days walk will entail, but without describing every stile in too much detail. Book was small and light enough to carry on throughout the walk. Recommended.

Great book
Great book. I havent used it yet because one of the youth hostels I would have used has shut down and and the rest of the accommodation in the area (that I can find on the internet) is a bit pricey. Holidaying in the lakes this summer, so will have a ride around an try find some more reasonably priced accom.

Must read for a tour of the lakes
This was my third hiking trip to the Lake District from America. My hiking buddy and I made this book required reading, and we're so glad we did. In conjunction with a good set of maps, this book set some great routes for us and took us to some key, iconic places in the dales. It's easy to follow, and we had no issues completing the guided walks each day.
