Perfect for Scoring, Love the Dual-Ended Blade and Safety Design!
I recently purchased the BreadSmart bread lame, and it’s become an essential tool in my baking routine. The dual-ended blade is such a great feature, offering flexibility for different scoring styles without needing to switch tools. One side has a fine point for more detailed designs, while the other is wider for simpler, bolder cuts—perfect for all types of bread. What I love most is the thoughtful safety design. The blade is securely housed, which means I don’t have to worry about accidental cuts while I’m not using it. It’s comfortable to hold, and the wooden handle gives a nice, sturdy grip. It’s also easy to replace the blades when needed, which is great for long-term use. Overall, this lame is ideal for both beginners and seasoned bakers looking for precision and safety in their scoring.

Read this review if you can't figure out how to remove the blade
The media could not be loaded. I used my Breadsmart Lame for the first time last night. I may come back to this review to revise it after repeated use, but because I also spent an hour after using the lame trying to figure out how to remove the blade for washing or if it gets dull, I figured I would try to help other people in the same situation as me. So here's a poorly-shot video that shows how the actual blade comes out. A few things to note:Don't leave the plastic cover over the blade when you slide the blade holder off the handle. It's tempting to do this because we don't want to slice our hands open, but after you've practiced sliding the blade holder on and off the handle a few times you will figure out how to do this safely. If you slide the blade holder off the handle while the cover is on it, you will not be able to safely remove the cover. Don't even try. It's not worth the inevitable wound. Also, it should go without saying but don't place your hand/finger directly on the cutting edge of the blade when you try to remove it. The flat top and bottom edges of the blade (the short sides of the rectangle) are dull. The cutting edges are…not. So when you look at the video, you'll see I'm using my index finger (not a piece of wood, as a commenter helpfully suggested), because I'm not pressing on the cutting surface. So here's what you do: take the plastic cover off the blade, then carefully slide the blade holder off the handle. Apply gentle, even pressure to the very top flat edge of the blade. You can do this with your finger but if you're worried, a wooden spoon should work nicely. Once the blade starts to show through the bottom of the holder, you can gently tug it out, again being sure to only handle the flat side of the blade.I do have to add that I actually wrote Breadsmart's Customer Service and the person who responded offered to hop on a video call with me so they could walk me through how to remove the blade. This is very, very good customer service, but I'd imagine it would be easier if they'd just update their instructions and/or video tutorial.

Duel Blade
I love the duel blade option. It fits nicely in my hand and is easy to work with. And it stores so well.

So easy! Wish I found this last year
I’ve been baking bread at home for over a year now. Scoring has always been an issue for me. After using this it’s such a big difference. It glides through the dough so effortlessly. I love that there is a curved option and straight and that they both use the same blades. Line up the dots to put the knife back on. Super Easy. Already had friends order!

Lame
I love being able to decorate the top of my bread. American's Test Kitchen recommended this particular lame and I'm glad i got the on with the straight and curved ends. I'm new to using a lame and having fun learning how to use it.
