Chinese Ceramics (Discovering China)

This was not even a remotely edifying book on Chinese ceramics--it was terribly vague on history (and it only offered a very short historical time span) and on materials, with no real information presented. The cover image (and its era) wasn't even addressed in the book itself. The ceremics pictured were clearly photographed, which is why it earned 1 star.

Very good book.

Presented in a small hardbound format, this quite small book is a useful introduction to the history of Chinese ceramics. It is written by a Chinese scholar in a spartan and easy to use style with excellent supporting colour photographs. Any broad sweep of Chinese ceramics is a test of putting in what is relevant and this one does so. This small book (14 x 22cm) is more suited to being held in your hand as you explore these wonderful examples of pottery making. Highly recommended.

The auther hit the spot ,explained clearly and pointed out the virtues without too much verbiage. I would recommend this to anyone to get them started on the subject.
