Mil-Tec Pith Helmet

It’s a nice costume piece, especially for the price, but the details are definitely lacking. I’m using it as a costume accessory so I’m rating it accordingly. The puggaree wrapping started to come off almost immediately. It’s made of separate scrap strips of canvas, not one long piece, and held in by a few stitches and some glue. I planned to remove them anyway so it didn’t bother me but I would recommend adding more glue if you want them to retain their shape. The leather liner is decent, with a Velcro closure to adjust fit. The chinstrap isn’t really usable except as decoration across the brim. The leather strap is too thin, unfinished on one side, and features a (sharp edged) stamped metal buckle. It is adjustable enough you can get it over your chin but it’s not practical or comfortable to do so. On the plus side, the canvas is good quality and applied well. The overall shape is accurate and symmetrical. I can’t tell if it is pith, cork, or something else but it is a good balance between sturdy and lightweight. All told, it’s nowhere near the quality of a vintage pith helmet but it’s really hard to beat for the price.

Well constructed Solar helmet/sun helmet/Pith helmet. Made of cork or some such substance as pith I guess. (These were worn by many Western Armies of Europe and N. America in the Victorian era. The U.S. Army wore a similar one (with a base material of cork) to this model in the 1880's South West.). This quality product is made in Vietnam. A headband type of liner is adjustable to fit different size craniums. It looks just like the English Army tropical hat of the 1890's. Tan outer material and pool-table green inner liner material. I'm size 7 3/4 and it just barely fits if I unhook the inner head band in the back where the velcro meets. I don't plan on wearing it too much, other than outside yard work (I live in Southern Arizona. It can get to 124 degrees F. here.) But for History buffs this is the hat to get while at a low price and available.

A very sharp looking helmet, to be sure. Helmet band is fake, and the liner is tight. If you have over a 7 5/8 head size, this helmet will not work. I had to tear out the liner and add a new one to fit. Definitely a costume helmet, not meant for rigorous work.

This is a nice quality pith helmet! I was really surprised with how well it was made! Cloth covering, faux leather strap, and nice adjustable head strap to allow it to fit any head size! My only complaint was the helmet had a strong order when it arrived (don't know if that was due to the glue used or what.) But all you need to do is use some Febreze and let it air out for a while. A must have for any cosplay outfit, or jungle explorer!

If you are looking for a way to let everyone know you know what's up, this hat is for you. It is useful not just for the sun protection it offers enterprising colonizers, it is also useful for applications such as short-range defense and gathering berries. And yes, it is science compliant. Specifically, it has a vent in the top button which lets that always rising hot air up and out. Overall this is my go to hat anywhere on the African continent.

Awesome delivery time , 7 days from Wales UK. I live in Canada and wasn't expecting them for at least two weeks . Beautiful helmets , well made , well packaged , the only thing I can say against them is they are a little tight , but then again I have a fat head :) If you are into Steampunk or historical roll playing costumes this is the real deal .

Ordered it for a costume, my head is pretty big so it doesn’t really fit me, but my sister tried it on, and it fit perfectly. The product is clearly cheaply made with high tolerances with the product, due to the liner being off center. Too expensive for the quality. If you don’t mind that, it’s a sturdy hat that works

Bought this for a steampunk outfit. It seems very well made. Fits well. I wear a medium size hat, 57cm. 71/8 so you know. Can be adjusted for size but I doubt it could go really large. The chin strap is cheap and useless but I don't care about that. Quite pleased with the purchase.

しっかりした作りです。 帽体の厚みは約１２ｍｍ、茶色の合皮のライナーが金具でしっかり留められています。内側も緑色の布地で覆われていて帽体の素材は判りませんがプラスチックや発泡スチロールでは無さそうです。 Pith helmetのピス（マメ科の髄）なのか樹皮なのかまあそんなところでしょう。 頭頂部にベンチレーションの金具がしっかり留められています。質量は200g位で工事現場で使うプラスチックのヘルメットよりだいぶ軽いです。 後ろの庇の部分は野外では無防備になる後頚部を強い日差しや物理的な衝撃から保護することが出来ます。 ベルクロの調整範囲は55ｃｍから57ｃｍといったところでしょうか欧米人の頭の形に合うようにやや長丸です。頭のサイズや形によっては内壁に干渉してしまうように思われます。 まだ地球上に未開の探検すべき所の在った時代のデザインのヘルメットをかぶって郊外の野山を散策するのもちょっとした探検気分を味わえるような気がします。

El único pero que se le puede poner es que da calor, es magnifico, lo único que lo diferencia de uno original es la calidad del cuero de la correa, da una presencia muy buena en un disfraz de steampunk o explorador, como elemento de colección y exhibición junto a objetos antiguos es algo imponente. Se puede ajustar a la cabeza, desde un cabezón bestial como el mio hasta el de un niño de 7 años.

Der Tropenhelm hält, was er verspricht und ist als Verkleidung super. Er sieht erstaunlich echt und nicht nach billigem Kostüm aus, lediglich der Lederriemen wirkt etwas arg günstig produziert. Ich habe sie stets (wie im Foto) oben auf dem Schirm gelassen, dann macht sie keine Probleme. Ich bin mit dem Helm auch bereits dreimal gegen einen Türrahmen gelaufen, davon ist nur eine kleine, nicht sichtbare, aber zumindest ertastbare Delle geblieben - super! Die Größe des Helms war für meinen Kopf sehr angenehm, Leute mit sehr kleinem Kopfumfang sollten sich den Kauf aber vielleicht nochmal überlegen - Größenverstellbar ist der Helm nämlich kaum und mit zu kleinem Kopf verschwindet man dann fast komplett darin. Ansonsten: Schnelle Lieferung in guter Verpackung, Kontakt zum Kundenservice hatte ich nicht. Alles in allem also ein wirklich tolles Produkt mit ganz kleinen Abstrichen (für die ich keinen Stern abziehen kann), das als Verkleidung einiges hermacht.
