Better than anticipated
I had previously owned several sets of Skullcandy products so i knew that the sound quality is usually pretty good. But the previous speaker i had purchased (a 2/Zxl which is their side company) was not the greatest compared to the earbuds and headphones they sell so i ordered this with mixed expectations. I was greatly inpressed when i received this item though from the start. The box was well packaged with everything i needed and in great condition. The instruction manual had clear, concise instructions for using it. Some of the functions don’t seem to work as described (i.e. turning the speaker back on after five minutes of inactivity by double pressing the center button) but they are not something i generally use anyways so it is a minor thing. The speaker charges very quickly and is easy to plug in. I have a carabiner looped through the side with the rotating loop for ease of transport and intend to put another on the other side with a report ring as well so i can set up a strap or something if needed. The sound quality is phenomenal and even at the highest volume on both my speaker and phone there is very little distortion. You can independently control the volume of the speaker without changing the volume on your music device which is something i love as most other speakers i have will change my device’s volume instead. I also, i will admit, have dropped the speaker a couple times from various heights and it is still in near perfect physical condition (a small scuff on the front due to one drop ending with a short slide on some concrete) and no performance issues whatsoever. It was even playing music at the time and showed no hiccups or quality changes. My only “concern” with it is that the on sound is so loud and can’t be changed. But honestly, what did i expect when i bought a speaker called “Air Raid”? Those aren’t quiet to begin with. The battery seems to run for a VERY long time, as i have had it playing music (at full volume on the speaker and half on my phone) for nearly a full day before i have had to charge it. The distance from the device that it stays connected at is appreciated as well because i have had a few times where i would go to my kitchen from my living room to get a drink or something and have forgotten to take my phone out of my pocket. But it stayed connected without any skipping or static. The size (around that of a standard red brick used in building structures) is perfect for sitting anywhere without getting lost or taking up too much space. If i ever have the need to purchase a new speaker, i will definitely be looking for another one of these. And i will for sure be recommending it to any of my family or friends as one to purchase for themselves as well.

You Get What you Pay For
The Skullcandy Air Raid is exactly what i wanted from a Bluetooth speaker. Its as loud as it is advertised to be and even more durable. This speaker is louder then anything its size. The jambox and beats pill are the two main points of comparison when it comes to this product. The reason I got this speaker was because in my spring break house we had one speaker, a jawbone jambox, and it was not nearly loud enough to hear form anywhere father then 5 feet away during a party. Also at its max level it distorted and sounded pretty bad. So I wanted to get something that was loud and sounded good at max volume. This is what I found and that's exactly what it does. The sound quality is good but like I said, you get what you pay for. The sound isn't high fidelity or audiophile level amazing but definitely on the same level as the jambox and pill. The difference is that it doesn't distort to nearly the same level as either of the other speakers while also blowing away their max volume. The Air Raid is also far more durable then any other speaker. The box itself is a steel face plate wrapped in a heavy duty rubber shell. Its drop proof and water resistant. It can be splashed and play fine but it can't be submerged. I found the battery life on the speaker to match exactly what is advertised on the Skullcandy site so no problems there.Overall this product is one of the best all around speakers in its price range. It is still marketed more for people who want loud good sounding music wrapped in a nice durable package. That being said you could always opt for a more expensive Bose speaker or other brands that will give you higher quality sound. But even in those price ranges your not going to find something this small, loud, durable, and good sounding all in one package.

Sweet Speaker
This is exactly what I expected it to be (then again, I almost always get what I expect cause I read the product description. It’s total BS that people leave bad reviews for stuff that’s their own damn fault for not reading the damn description. But I digress...)A nice medium sized, tough-looking, pretty loud bluetooth speaker. I love the way it looks, I’m a fan of Skullcandy already, and this speaker doesn’t dissappoint. I don’t need flashing lights, or glitter, or anything, so I’m very happy with its simplistic black design.Bass isn’t bad for a BT speaker of this size, I dunno if it’s even possible to cram enough bass into a smallish speaker to satisfy me, but that’s on me ;)It seems to be built very solidly. Love the rubberized coating. Buttons are easy to find. I like that it has a ring on one side and a small bar on the other so it’s easy to clip a carabiner on it to hang it up.The powering on/off kinda staticky noise it makes when you turn it on/off isn’t the best thing ever, but it’s less than a second long and easy to ignore. It syncs up instantly. I pulled up a video and played it though the speaker; no lag (yay!!)There’s no distortion at max volume and it has a good range. I was playing music on it through my phone, phone was in my pocket, walked around all over the house and never lost connection or distorted. So yeah, overall I’m very happy with this speaker. Good job Skullcandy!
