Excellent resource for any writer.
Though I haven't yet read the entire book, what I have read is absolutely awesome! Though this book is about screenwriting, it would be useful for any serious writer of any type of writing. It is jam-packed with very useful information to help you stay inspired and improve your writing skills. Whether you're a screenwriter or not, this book should be in every writer's library.

If you are going to write scripts for television or movies you need this book
If you want to do any scriptwriting you need this book and here is why1. Everything is sequentially ordered from how to write a script to how to get your script ready to sell2. Dave's experience in the industry makes it easy for him to educate you on what needs to be in your script and what needs to be left out.3. There are specific examples cut out of successful and failed scripts to help you not only know how to write a scene, but how to not write it.4. He provides important guidance on the entire process with examples that allow you to rewrite a portion of a script to give you hands-on experience to develop your thought processes and guide you to what your writing should look like.5. He shows you how important your character development is and how to construct character dialog so that a reader won't toss your script to the reject pile.6. Most importantly, If you have any writing talent at all and if you read this book end to end you will come out with a master's class in how to construct your script.

This was a gift to my 17 years old granddaughter, who is interested in screenplay writing. She was happy when she has seen it.

One of The Best Screenwriting Books on the Market
Let me start off by saying that I hate having to replace books. I NEVER throw or give them away but on two instances I had books in a storage unit (my moms and the other was my own) and the units unfortunately were auctioned off thus I lost mini libraries. One of my prized possessions happened to be this book. Within the first week of reading this bible, I had highlights everywhere, notes written here there and everywhere and had completed several of the writing assignments. It helped me to build my writing confidence as well as to pull out of me what only others saw. I actually was feeling like a real WRITER. I wrote composition notebooks full with story ideas, character development etc. And I wouldn't have gotten to that point without this guide. It has been tried and true and lives up to the hype. Writers Block? No worries. There are prompts that help loosen up the cobwebs and move around the obstacles that are preventing that creative flow to thrive. I highly recommend this especially if you're tired of buying book after book after book only to read the same things just in different words. There are some exceptional books on the market for screenwriting by some of the best in the business and this is but one of those books to add to your collection, however the Screenwriter's Bible puts all of the information and guidance in an order that just mentally feels right (write). Easy to follow and understand and updated with today's industry info. A great investment if you're serious about writing.

A must-have for all screenwriters!
Of the myriad of "how-to" screenwriting texts, this is the one to own and follow! Extremely comprehensive, informative, and reader-/user-friendly, it removes the mystery and hesitancy in screenwriting. If widely used, it would provide much-needed consistency in especially the often confusing area of screenplay formatting.I recommend this as a required text for all high school, college, and university screenplay courses.

Great Reference Book for Starting Out Screen Writing
I bought this book for my wife who is seriously working at screen writing. Within a few days I noticed many yellow stickies poking from the edges of the pages. When she has a question she finds it easy to look up an answer and the answers make sense. It's truly years of screenwriting experience condensed into an easily accessible source.
