No one wants to take responsibility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved the reel until the locking mechanism broke about a week ago. Only had the reel for just over 2 months. I contacted the seller Supplykick and they said it was a warranty issue. So I contacted the manufacturer as instructed. My first email received from a representative "Mary Adkins" asked me to send a copy of the invoice and they should be able replace the item. I politely sent her the invoice of $97.00 that I paid for the item, tax included. I now have received another email from Reelcraft "Mary Adkins" saying that I should contact Amazon. Thus the headline 'No one wants to take responsibility'. I reserve the right to change this review when someone replaces my faulty reel manufactured by REELCRAFTIn retrospect, ReelCraft replaced the item with a brand new one. It works great for now. Thank you so much for the replacement. The malfunctioning one was sent back to you for evaluation.

Reelcraft Is Quality - No Chinese Junk Here!
This reel is built like a tank. I mounted this on my garage ceiling. The only trouble I had with mounting is the mounting base doesn't detach from the reel's frame. So, I used lag-studs to mount it. I cut a piece of cardboard the same size as the base and marked the location of the four mounting holes, which are already in the base. I then used the cardboard piece as a template for locating the lag-studs on the ceiling. When I had installed the four lag-studs, I lifted the reel into place and secured it with a washer and nut on each lag-stud. I used stainless steel lag-studs only because I already had them. However, stainless isn't necessary.

THIS IS NOT MADE BY REELCRAFT
After 10 months the reel will not allow the cord to stay deployed. A spring that helps the cord lock in place must have given up. This reel is still under warranty but they are making it difficult to get the problem resolved. I phoned Reelcraft customer service but they couldn't be bothered to send me an email link to submit a claim. After telling me they don't make this model reel but simply put their label on it (it's from another crappy manufacturer), they quickly read out an email address to send my Amazon invoice to and hung up. $85 wasted.

Almost perfect.
In my opinion you can't go wrong with Reelcraft products. Yes they're expensive but you only have to buy it once. Only thing I'd change is I would make the tri-tap outlet magnetic. I assume like myself most everybody mounts it overhead and it would be nice if I could stick to my metal shop table or something metal near by.

Heavy duty "industrial grade" product.
This reel is THE INDUSTRIAL GRADE UNIT ON THE MARKET!! That was the reason I paid the high price. It holds the 50' 12 gauge cord even if you allow it to rewind without manual "feeding" to wind level across the reel, and I am anal about that so I do wind It level, but I tested it to see if it would hang up before it got all the cord wound up. It worked. The red color matches the retractable air hose reel I already have. The detent works well when you pull cord out, and want it to stay at that point. It also releases and recoils with only a small "tug" and then let it go. So far very satisfied even though the price is high.

Good product, but not perfect
First things first, the reel is not identical to the one in the picture. Now that we have that out of the way lets get to the important stuff.I have this hanging on my wall above my work bench and it does work very well. I do have one complaint though. If you don't make sure it rolls up evenly you will end up with a few feet of cord hanging out of the reel. It's very annoying. For me it's not too big of a deal because it is hung about 3 feet off the bench so a few feet doesn't hurt anything, although it does annoy me. But if you had it hung under a bench the cord would be laying on the ground. On the other hand if you are going to hang it from the ceiling and raise the cord stop a few feet, you'd probably never notice the issue. So it all depends on how you are going to use it. Just be aware that it is difficult to get the cord completely in the reel.Aside from that it has worked just like it should so no other complaints.

Works great
Been wanting one of these for awhile. Bought this one as the best combination of wire gauge and price (this is 14 gauge wire, not 16 gauge like many of them). I also like that its a triple outlet... very handy if you are using 2 or 3 items at once.I hung it from the metal brackets used to mount the garage door opener, and then plugged it into the garage door outlet.I used it a bunch this weekend, including several times pulling it out full length. No problems with it. I even had my big air compressor plugged into it for awhile. So it was definitely getting a workout. When you reel it back in, just stand under it and watch the cable wind... move your hand back and forth slightly to make sure it winds across the entire reel. (I'm guessing that people that have it jam are just letting it build up at one end of the reel maybe???)I'll update the review if I have issues... if you don't see an update then its still working great.

Don't be cheap, buy one of these
This is for my garage. I like working on stuff. I have wanted a cord reel and initially bought two 28 dollar reels from Lowes. The cord was stiff and the spring retract was marginal. I didn't even finish the install and took them back . Now that I'm in love with the idea of a cordreel, I had to find the best value I could, as I am still basically a cheapskate home mechanic. This Reelcraft reel is supurb. It comes with great mounting hardware and it WORKS just like its supposed to - give it a yank to snap the cord back and feed it out slow to lock in place. I'm so tired of cheap Chinese stuff that works marginally, its nice to have a product that looks good and does exactly what its supposed to do with out fiddling with it. The company is in Indiana, but it doesn't say where it was made. An added bonus is that the larger 14 gauge wire is good for running power tools and other higher amperage devices. I will certainly buy another.

As descibed
Product arrived as described, one day late, but due to unusual weather conditions. Very satisfied with the product, and Amazon Prime
