Worth every penny.
I am using these in the small space of my 29 foot RV. They sound amazing. I use them for my TV and music collection and the sound is pure and rich. The bass is surprising for speakers this small. It sounds like I have high end speakers. They were not cheap but I feel they were worth every penny. I use a splitter and have my TV and bluetooth dongle plugged into them. I don't have room for any real audio equipment and these did the trick. Worth every penny.

Terrible customer support
I purchased a pair of these speakers a little more than a year ago ($600 per pair) and used them in my office a few hours a week connected to a hi-res music player. A few months after the warranty expired one speaker stopped working. No audio would come out other than a clicking noise. I contacted Paradigm using their email for customer service. It took two emails and a week before they responded and told me I needed to return the speakers to my dealer.I did that, and my dealer spoke with the company and was told the speaker would require a new electronics board and the part would cost $200 plus shipping pus the cost of the dealer's installation. Considering the speaker cost $300 that makes little sense.I am very disappointed Paradigm cannot do better than this. I would recommend never doing business with this company for their poor support. The Paradigm Shift evidently should be considered a disposable product that is to be just discarded should it fail, because the company has no interest in providing repairs at a reasonable cost.

Great powered speaker!
I've been looking for a good speaker for my office, hooked up through my computer. I mainly listen to music while I work or read, and wanted some flexibility that sometime down the road I might re-arrange the room to have it more of a room speaker and less of a computer speaker.I'm very impressed -- these speakers can definitely fill a room and have surprising bass for a relatively small package. That said, let's put the bass into perspective -- they won't come anywhere close to the Paradigm Sub 1 that I have on my home theatre but, you don't want / need that in a small office environment. The great thing about these speakers is that down the road, you have the flexibility to pull them out and use them alongside a Sonos system / iPod to power another room, or even as a "portable" outdoor system.

speaker failed
Bought a pair of A2s about year and a half ago. Like them. BUT one stopped working. Called paradigm. About $165 to replace amp and then have to find someone to install it. Won't buy from paradigm again until they have a 5 year warrantee.(My JBL wired speakers still going strong after 40 years.)

excellent
Just got a set of these to replace some very old advent powered partners. If you like the advent pp 570's, you'll love these speakers. They have a volume knob, but no bass/treble/tone control. They are auto-off so they don't hum or hiss. The grills are magnetic and fit well. The advents very extremely good speakers, but these sound even better. They will drench a large room with excellent sound. The input channel selection switch is a very nice touch, and although the docs don't tell you, they do come with a decent 3.5mm male/male input cable.

Value off the charts
Paradigm does it again. I owned the first pair of speakers from this company in 1987, and they were a game changer for the $$ at the time, and the company continues its tradition of exceptional audio for the cost. I wanted a pair of good book shelf speakers for my office so I could listen to music without having to fire up the main system a few rooms away. These speakers will work with pretty much any source (comp, smart phone, etc.) are capable of some VERY impressive audiophile quality sound. When you factor in the cost and that they are self powered (100W RMS), they are off the charts value. A+.
