Worth keeping a reference
Very informative for first time 3D printer buyer. Paper print quality was excellent. More like a paperback book than a magazine. Worth keeping as a reference. Only a few pages of advertisements in the back. Glad I bought it.

Good resource, but a " basic" computer section would help.
Good source for information on 3X printers in all price ranges. My only "complaint" is some of the computer terminology (program names, file types, how to use these) was a little beyond my knowledge. I am not a computer programmer, or too terribly well versed in all of the current program and file types out there. Maybe a section on the "basics" of the software used to run a 3 D printer would be helpful for some of us computer cave men out there. Otherwise, a very informative and impartial review of what is available.

Handy information for beginners
The booklet lacks a bit of structure, being a collection of articles and reviews. There is some nice information in there for beginners though: lots of history and news, articles about plastic choices, a nice review of CAD/CAM/slicing software and an in-depth comparison of many printer models. For the price, it's worth the read.I'd say 'Practical 3D Printers: The Science and Art of 3D Printing Technology' is a more complete and structured guide if you're starting out.

Great Resource
This is an excellent overview of the current state of hobbyist/prosumer printers, with a lot of other fun stuff thrown in. I'd highly recommend this for anyone with even a passing interest in desktop 3D printing.

Great reference for those looking to get into 3D printing
This guide is a great starter for those who are thinking about getting a 3D printer. Contains reviews of many current generation 3D printers and breaks them down by price, print quality, features, etc. Information helps you to decide which printer to get based on what kind of printing you want to do (Example: rapid prototyping, high resolution printing, etc) Definitely a good read just to get your feet wet in the subject.

More up to date, but lost some of the depth
There is still value in getting the one they published 2 years ago. The tests were more exhausting, and the sample models that each printer made were easier to compare. This still has good articles about the future. The printer in the middle of the cover isn't even for sale yet, and the company is being sued for patent infringement. Not sure I would be "reviewing" unobtanium.

Excellent roundup of 3d printers
This book reminded me of the car magazine "shootouts" where they have a group of cars and test them all to see which is better. The additional articles help to keep things interesting and I feel like they were honest in their reviews.

Read this before you buy a 3d printer in 2014 - if are reading this in 2015 it is outdated
Read this before you buy any desktop 3d printer in 2014. This is a great magazine that publishes a shoot out review of 3d printers -- many of the low cost desktop 3d printers on the market -- it is a tricky task to be fair - and I think the testers/writers do a good job. The problem is 3d printing as a technology is developing so fast this is only useful in 2014. The information in this will be useless by next year (2015) as most of the companies listed will have better printers out for totally different costs.
