We tried an original lickimat for our lab pup and decided that a tuff one would be more appropriate. She loves it, we use crushed banana, pate, peanut butter and sometimes a mix. It is great as a calming tool although it is a treat and so she doesn't have it every day. The only downside is that it can be difficult to clean, especially when some of the pate gets stuck. We tend to soak it and use a brush or kebab stick to get all the little bits out.

This heavy duty product is well worth the extra cost compared to the normal version. The rubber feet keep it from sliding on the floor, and the robust solid outside makes it really suitable for putting in the dishwasher to be cleaned! This design is a bit more challenging for our dog compared with the grid pattern one, so he takes longer to lick the pate off it. Our dog really enjoys licking food off this, and it helps distract him from other things going on, and extends his eating time. Only use this with pate as an additional part of his food, not with kibble or anything else. This is the second design we have of these mats - highly recommend it!

The breeder we bought our dog from was using lickimats for the litter and so we decided to continue this. We originally used the standard lickimats but found them difficult to clean and then our dog started eating them so we needed to upgrade to this version.Mostly it works, our dog can still clean the mat of 90% of the food in less than a minute, but then she takes it to her bed and sits there licking it for another 10 minutes to get every last morsel of food off of it. I’ve also noticed that some of the rubber ‘+’s are being damaged over time so inevitably they’ll come off and be eaten. I can see the mat lasting a few months max if it continues to wear at this rate.

I am raising a Guide Dog puppy and these were recommended to me by my supervisor as a great way to keep the puppy busy and make her food last longer than 2 seconds! They are great. I soak her kibble for a couple of hours, mash it into the mat then freeze it. Keeps her happy for 20-25 mins so we give her a mat while we have family meals. I got both this one and the one with a square grid but much prefer these red ones. Easy to clean and handy being able to put them in the dishwasher. A little on the pricey side (we have 3 so we always have one available) but worth it.

I highly recommend buying the Tuff mats over the standard ones. This is because these ones are rigid, more “chew proof” and dishwasher safe which is essential as these are difficult to wash by hand due to the nature of the products pattern.

We bought this in the hopes of slowing our cat down whilst eating. It worked for a bit until he started to bite the rubber. Once that started it was about two days until we had to throw the whole thing out to prevent him from eating the small bits of rubber.If you’re struggling with a similar issue, I’d recommend one of the hard plastic options out there that can’t be punctured by little cat teeth.

Easy to prepare with a mashed banana or crushed carrot.Keeps the dog busy for a good 15 mins or so.Great idea
