Fun and challenging
The quality of the Hanayama puzzles are always Superior to others, and the elk was no different. I purchased as a gift for my husband who loves challenges and puzzles and he enjoyed it. The puzzle is difficult to solve and took a couple hours and several people to figure it out, which is what I was aiming for in the gift because it's not fun when they're figured out in minutes. I even suspect my husband cheated and peeked on YouTube for hints. Well worth the cost and fun, as well as frustrating lol, for us all.

Good puzzle not as difficult as other lvl 5's
I completed this puzzle in about ten minutes.With that said I just finished mastering the hanayama vortex puzzle which has very similair mechanic's to this. Probobly would have had a more difficult experience if this where not the case. This puzzle is well desighned and the finish is durable.although i finished thos puzzle quickly some of my friends have not had as much luck.

Interesting puzzle with a "trick"
I have to admit I had a tiny bit of help with this, as I haven't done many puzzle in my live. At first is was just so frustrating because it looked like it should be so simple given it's just two pieces of metal. I tried looking up hints that don't give away the solution, and found out that there was one position that you need to get to that will then help you get to other important positions. This didn't seem to help me at first, but eventually I got the puzzle figured out a few times by accident, and soon after realized what the "trick" was and how it related to that special position. If you're having trouble, you can look up drawn solutions and just glance at one of the positions in the diagram without really looking carefully at the whole solution. Even now that I know how it works it's still fun to go back and figure it out every now and then.

I cheated on the elk
My 11 year old was able to get it without to much trouble, but then couldn't replicate it (I said "don't show me!" and then broke down and asked her to show me the next day and she couldn't). I struggled for an hour or more at many different sittings and then looked up the solution online (which still required quite a bit of mapping). It's amazing how such a small crafted piece can seem so easy but is quite challenging. Glad I bought it.Very sturdy, and cool. Can't wait to see friends and relatives who think they'll be able to quickly unhook it and hopefully struggle with it.
