Perfect primer to glue plastic, Teflon, and other hard to glue surfaces
Permabond POP plastics primer (primer for gluing plastic and other low-stick materials that are difficult to glue) works great, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I used it to glue the bottoms of some plastic bowls onto the inside of some Teflon-coated 8-inch baking pans in order to make some ant-proof food bowls for outside cats, and it worked extremely well. The bowls and the pans now behave as if they are a one-piece object, rather than two objects that were glued together. I sprayed both surfaces to be glued with Permabond POP primer, and then I waited 24 hours just to be extra-sure that the primer was completely dry and ready to glue. I then applied contact cement to both surfaces to be bonded, then I waited 10 minutes (as instructed on the contact cement package) and then I pressed the two items together to let the cement (glue) dry. I then allowed the bonded items to set and dry, allowing another 24 hours (just to be absolutely sure that the glue was dry and set) before using them. I put water in the baking pan part of my newly-created objects (in order to make a moat to keep the ants away from the food), and I put cat food in the plastic bowl part. No more ants eating the cat food! You should also be able to use this product as a primer for gluing similarly difficult to bond objects together using Super Glue (it would be especially good for gluing small objects together, such as repairing a small, broken plastic item), but contact cement seemed better-suited for my own project. (See my photos of my project--The plastic bowls are actually centered inside of the Teflon baking pans, even though it doesn't look like it in these picture because of the perspective of the photos.)
