Yes, there's a wooden rod for one hand attached with velcro, so it's removable. Very cute, made very well.

Q: Does it say what the item is on the box? I'm getting 2 for my younger sisters an they'll see them when they arrive.

It won't tell what's in the box if it's still in the brown packaging.
