Amerex B402T, 5lb ABC Dry Chemical Class A B C Fire Extinguisher, with Vehicle Bracket

Amerex makes high quality extinguishers. That's what I want when I need a life safety device. I shop selectively, and for other extinguishers, there are some compelling options. But this Amerex is the winner for me for this ABC capacity and for the next step up capacity ABC. Amerex is also my winner for Halotron extinguishers. I did a lot of research and put my trust in this brand for most of my home, office and car extinguisher needs. Buckeye makes a great CO2 extinguisher. Steer clear of the box store brands, plastic valves, plastic handles, and all the heavily advertised brands that put me through multiple recalls and that didn't perform when needed. There's no savings in failure. Stick with the reliable brands, like Amerex.

Solidly built

After reading that plastic parts on fire extinguishers are not a good idea I was looking for an all metal model. Apparently the plastic parts can break-off or fail rendering them inoperative. Since extinguishers can last for years I would like it to be as sturdy as possible. Rated ABC, this dry chemical extinguisher is multi-purpose which means it covers most usual causes of fire in the home. So, this device is applicable for use on cloth, wood, paper, combustible and flammable liquids (grease, gasoline, oil and oil based paints) and electrical equipment (plugged-in items like tools and appliances). This is exactly what I wanted. A clearly written Owner’s Manual is included which contains warnings and instructions for proper operation of the extinguisher and how to use it on a fire. Maintenance is minimal. It is recommended that the extinguisher be turned upside down and shaken every month to prevent powder from compacting at the bottom. Keep it in a safe easily accessible location and familiarize all family members with proper operation, and check the pressure gauge regularly to ensure it is ready to use when needed.

I purchased this product. And when I received it was defective, for some reason it wasn’t operational. It has already been discharged, dry chemical is inside the plastic bag that with it. Not happy about it due to I have to repurchased another one from another company.

Nice quality fire extinguisher. 4 stars because of poor packaging for a heavy product that allowed one of two purchased to get severely damage during shipping. The chemicals all released inside the shipping box. Amazon nor the seller will except returns on fire extinguishers. Had to contact the seller directly and prove to them the damage was real by sending them photos. They reimburse my purchase for the damaged one.
