Not pretty
This set is not pretty or aesthetically pleasing in any way. It also appears to get small rust spots after being in the dishwasher. It does not have a nice weight or feel in the hand. Feels cheap

Very thin. I purchased these to match my current set and they are substantially lighter and bend more easily

Better than a basic set of cutlery
Better than a basic set of cutlery. It could wash up better but that would no doubt be a costlier set.

This is not the same product Mikasa used to offer. It has been severely cheapened.
I have owned a set of Mikasa Gourmet Basics flatware for some 30 years and have always liked the appearance and feel. Recently I wanted to augment my existing set and purchased the current offering, advertised as Mikasa Gourmet Basics, on Amazon a couple weeks ago. Now sold by "Lifetime Brands" the flatware has a similar design appearance, but the produce has been dramatically cheapened. The pieces are much lighter, bend more easily and feel and look cheap. Do not be deceived into thinking this offering is al all the same as the Mikasa Gourmet Basics line that acquired a good reputation in past years.
