packs a lot of info for such a small map
Section breakdown:- close-up popout of old section (western border Ataturk Blvd)- further zoom out of old section + Taksim; goes a little further north than Dolmabahce; does not show the complete Golden horn but almost, goes as far West as Kariye Camiiboth popouts have listings of places of interest (about 60), aligning it with the map sectionboth popouts have a street indexyou do have to be just a little careful of folding the popouts back in lest you fold the wrong way (it's a different way of folding than usual). On the outside, there are three 4x5 maps:- zoom-in map of grand bazaar w/ *all* the street names- a zoom-out map of Bosphorous going as far north as Rumeli Kavagi- metro map of old section plus way westward + Taksim (northern stop Levent)I did some pre-research of places I wanted to see, even more obscure ones (as I have already spent 7 days in Istanbul) ... I found most on this map, and highlighted them for easy reference for my trip. Sure it doesn't have much of Asian side, nor does it list *all* the streets or the greater area of Istanbul, but it did have Kariye Camii which is as far west as I would want to go, and it packs a lot of info in a tiny handy useable space. In addition to this, I would suggest a compass for those who say they get lost w/ this map. Having said that, I think I will also supplement this map w/ a more detailed one just in case, but don't really plan on using it as it will surely be awkward & scream tourist.oh one other thing ... Streetwise is not available for Istanbul, or I would have tried that version, but I have had mixed results w/ streetwise, some good, some not good in terms of coverage or detail (however, all very easy to handle).

Great Pocket Map
I just got back from a trip to Istanbul and this was by far the most useful map. It fits easily in your pocket and you can flip it open quickly to glance at it while walking, without looking too much like a tourist. It is perfect for the old city. Outside of the old city, the detail drops off quickly and there is just an overview of the Asia side. In the newer area of town (Taksim, etc.) not all the streets are labeled, but I found it was enough to find my way around and find the attractions.

Extremely useful and well made
Extremely useful and well made; definitely recommended. My only complaint is that -- in an understandable effort to maximize portability -- the over-sacrificed on size and detail. If it were even a little bit bigger, it would be much more useful (and still small enough for a cargo pocket).

Good for general guidance but lacking resolution
My wife and I have traveled a fair amount in Europe so we have now tried several different brands of maps. We had a PopOut and Streetwise at the same time in Paris previously alongside each other. And on this more recent trip we used this map in Istanbul and a Streetwise map in Rome. In both comparisons we preferred the Streetwise maps and here's why... the PopOut for some reason doesn't have nearly as many street names labeled so it's OK for general guidance along major streets but not good for the type of navigation you need in very unfamiliar places. The PopOut maps also are more cartoon looking than the Streetwise maps and that makes it harder to identify points of interest. For example, this PopOut map for Istanbul uses the same shape/icon to identify all Mosques so no one is easier to identify than any other but the Streetwise map of Rome has 3D views of key points of interest transposed over their location on the map so it's easy to visually find different churches or the Pantheon. We got this PopOut map for Istanbul because I think we didn't find one from Streetwise for there but I think it'll be our last PopOut purchase. They do fold down well for storage but in the end they need to update the details on their maps.

So helpful and handy!
So helpful for navigating Istanbul's winding streets (although the bazaar portion does not really do much once you're inside... you're going to get lost in there, just allow time for it!). We had no trouble walking most of the places we wanted to go (this map is great for the sights in the old city), and I credit this map with getting us back to our hotel on more than one occasion when we were not exactly certain of our location. Pop-out maps are always the best - easy access for a quick glance when you're unsure of your next turn without having to whip out the full map for that tell-tale "lost tourist" moment.

Two Stars
too small to read and the folding parts do not work very well after a few use.

PopOut Maps are the best!
I have used this type of map around the world and they are all great and easy to carry with you.
