The Fable is the best novel.
The Fable is the most astounding novel. This is the story of fighting during WWI on French territory intertwined with the Bible. Jesus , a petty officer, tries to stop fighting, and he is trialed by his illegitimate father, the commander in chief, "godfather" for attempting to stop fighting. This is what I can remember from last year's readings, of course it is much more refined and more intricate than this. All books of Library of America are finely edited and deserve to be placed on the best spot of your bookshelves.
