Too much pressure
The media could not be loaded. Nice little pump, but too much pressure for my wall fountain. I could not adjust it low enough to work. The flow would go out of the fountain. I solved the problem by installing a clamp on the tube coming out of the pump to restrict the flow.

Good replacement pump
My fountain is 21” from the pump to the top of the fountain. It needs more pumping power than normal because I have 8 jets on the lower level in addition to the center bubbler. TotalPond recommends measuring from the bottom of the fountain where the pump sits to the top where the water comes out, add 12 inches, then choose a pump with this ‘ideal pumping height’. They say that more height is better when choosing a pump since you can adjust the flow. I run my pump at full flow and it works fine. I like the fact that it’s UL listed, it has a one year warranty, and the impeller can be removed for cleaning. TotalPond.com lists this pump as Model 52217 (MD11130), 140 GPH, it comes with adapters for 3/8” and 1/2” ID tubing, and measures 3” x 1.7” x 2”. The flow is rated as follows:0 ft - 150 GPH1 ft - 110 GPH2 ft - 78 GPH3 ft - 25 GPH3.6 ft - 0 GPHThe original pump that came with my fountain was rated at 119 GPH, but the jets would reach only to the underside of the top bowl. The water would come out of the top bubbler weakly, but when crud started building up on the intake of the pump it would barely come out. I really wanted the jets to reach the artichoke on top, so I’m very happy with this pump. Although this pump didn’t include any filter material, there is a place for it on the pump so I cut a piece from some material I had. I also have the pump inside a fine mesh bag that helps filter out crud.

140 GPH - Wish it had a longer electrical cord
I had an old fountain that hadn't worked since I moved into my house. The previous pump that was still installed was a MD1130 - they don't make that pump anymore and this one (52217) was a direct replacement. The pump is advertised as a 140 GPH pump, but the paperwork that came with the pump shows it as 130 GPH. It doesn't really matter much, but strange to see a discrepancy. The cord length is 6 ft long, but it was really strange that I couldn't find that information anywhere on the product page. This was a bit of an issue for me since I was about 2 feet short of my outlet. I am using an extension cord for the meanwhile, but would have preferred a longer cord to prevent water intrusion and a possible short. This pump works well for 3 feet and has a local flow control knob at the front of the device. It comes with two adapters to attach to your water tube - a 3/8 in and a 1/2 in adapter. As far as the pump goes, it works really well, but I really wish the cord was a bit longer for my use.

Adjustable flow
Appears to be well made, supposedly can be taken apart for cleaning (is in fountain use).

Perfect for cats' drinking fountain
After researching ready-made options for a drinking fountain for my cats and finding those too expensive for my limited budget, I decided to go the do-it-yourself route. I had to do something, because my cats weren't drinking enough out of their bowl to stay healthy, and were constantly getting up on the counter wanting to drink straight out of the faucet. So I ordered this little pump, submerged it in a large, clean coffee can, and weighted it down with a couple of large rocks in order to make the jet shoot straight up, since the cord is too rigid to allow the pump to sit flush with the bottom of the can given the confined space, even with the attached suction cups. In this setup, if the pump is set on "high" and the coffee can is nearly full, it creates a nice dome of swiftly moving water without spilling or spraying anywhere, and the cats absolutely love it. They don't even have to bend down to drink. As the water level goes down, the dome of water remains consistent, still not causing any kind of mess, though it might splash out some if the water level gets very low and the nozzle of the pump is exposed. This pump is also quiet, producing a soft hum like you'd expect from an aquarium pump. All in all, I'm very pleased to have been able to solve my problem for less than half the cost of buying a commercial cat fountain, and the silver color of the coffee can blends very well with the stainless steel in my kitchen.***UPDATE***It's now 6 1/2 years later, and this little pump is still going strong. GREAT PURCHASE!!

great pump, with 16 SIXTEEN foot long power cord
16' long power cord : GREATI REALLY can't understand why other pump makers would have only a 6' cord, forcing you to use an extension cord outside!?!?!?!?Not a super powerful pump, but good enough for most small fountainsNo rating on longevity yet, I'll follow up in a few months

Silent and efficient
This pump is extremely quiet, in my 29 gallon aquarium in my bedroom. I cannot hear it at all, instead I hear the water flowing/tricking when it hits the water surface and I hear the (very noisy) air pump. 10/10 would purchase again. I went months without any small fish getting sucked up, but then a little ghost shrimp did get stuck in it and I had to unplug and take the pump apart to release the poor guy. I since added some sponge filter pieces inside the pump, which I believe reduced the flow slightly. (The ghost shrimp survived the trauma and is well and healthy).I would recommend to anyone requiring the water flow listed on the side panel (see photo)

Noisy and underpowered
7' lift?! It barely makes 3' for my rock bubbler. Constant hum drives me crazy. Can't recommend it and will be replacing it in the spring.
