Monessen 26D0566 Gas Fireplace Thermopile Thermogenerator

Worked 100% immediately after installation, required 2-3 attempts at starting gas logs within a weeks time, and complete 100% failure to ignite gas logs within 2 weeks time. Replaced with another brand and gas logs ignite 100% once again confirming source of failure.Update 1-20-19:Replacement still working perfectly. I had to drill out the mounting bracked that housed my old thermocouple to make this one fit. Since the threads were gone after drilling it to a larger size, I used a drop of epoxy to hold it in place. Seems to work now, but wish I would have received the standard size. I've been striking out on Amazon lately. It's a hassle to return stuff, so I usually try to make it work or throw it in the trash.

It's in and working, but I had a strange issue worth noting here. The brass part between the threaded nut and the thermopile was slightly too wide to fit in the mounting bracket of my Peterson log fireplace. Strange, because the threaded nut fits fine (same threads as the fireplace mounting bracket). I had to take it to a grinding wheel and take some of the brass off. After this mechanical adjustment, fits and works fine.

Installation wasn't very difficult for our gas fireplace. Worked great for about 2-3 months. Thermopile no longer functions and gas fireplace is down again. You save money over name brand but you pay for it in reliability. Thank heavens it's not our main heart source.

Worked perfect! I had to cut off the spade terminals and splice in to the existing plug connector with two wire nuts, but the mounting nut screwed right in to the bracket. Everything fired right up, just like new. I ordered regular shipping because it was not an urgent and the part arrived in about four days. I saved 60% over the price of a home improvement store unit.

I have purchased two of these, and the first one lasted for about three months, the second one doesn’t work at all. I wish there was a way to message this seller about the issue because if I could just get a working one I would be glad. The only options offered are to write a review though, so here is mine. :(

Bought in November, failing in February. Hope the new one (same item, same label) lasts longer than 3 months!!
