Easy. It lifts off of the mounting bracket and you just turn it upside down. Then it attaches back to the mounting bracket, being careful to align the attachment points on the bottom and top/rear of the gauge.

It's an ok size but the stake is plastic and when it rains hard the stake bends. Not a good thing if you want to see the amount of rain

Q: How do you attach the bracket to the rain gauge for insertion into the ground? The slot on the funnel is backwards from the hook on the bracket.

I have had no problem with mine, I would suggest contacting the seller it may be a manufacturing mistake in that there is only 1 way to do it.

I measure it right in the middle of the ring where there is a little seam line. That is where the inner flat part of the ring sets on top of the water.
