Old filter reveals how much dust, dirt, hair, and insect parts have been trapped by filter. Review: REGRETTABLE BUY- AVOID! - HORRIBLE FILTER! Very difficult to pull out the handled box that contains the replaceable paper fan-like filter. Handle carefully- the filter is fragile paper and the box itself is rickety. You have to feed 6 ‘toothed’ comblike dividers into the pleated accordion filter – TIME and patience! It took brute force removing the thing and even more to get it back on the tracks, but then the tabs that fasten the 6 ‘toothed’ dividers onto the box can pull off and the whole thing gets jammed (forever) especially if you are in a tight space. I wanted to replace it w/ a different filter but NO other was available period, or so said the heating company who sold me the $12,000 unit (w/ A/C York Affinity 8C). They never warned me about the time/effort needed for this particular filter, otherwise I would have chosen an entirely different system. After the second year of this tortuous filter change, my complaining resulted in the company offering to do it free for me from here on. They admitted that it is more difficult than most. Ridiculous to not be able to do a simple filter change myself. I can’t wait to see them fight with it next time. And, as for this being a great allergy filter (I have serious allergies), I have experienced no difference in the various Hepa and other ones over the years. But BEWARE this one - its awful!
