Pricey for a costume but much better than any cheap plastic belt!
I got this to replace the cheap plastic belt that came with one of those sub-$50 Santa suits I got last year. The plastic grommets started falling out of that plastic belt after only about 30 minutes or so and the belt was useless after just a single sitting. Though a bit pricey (this belt cost more than last year's suit!), this is a far superior Santa costume belt and I think it will last at least a couple of years of use.As far as length and fit goes, I have a 42" waist and about a 50" belly, which makes me morbidly obese according to my doctor but slim and fit on the Santa scale. I ordered the standard size (not the XL) and it fits nicely over my belly when using the tightest hole, firmly enough to support the weight of the buckle but not too tight.I took a picture so you can see that the belt holes start at about 47.5" and continue every 1.5" inches until about 54.5". The size of the buckle adds about 2.5" to the length. The buckle is the best part of this belt. It's 6.5" by 5" and hefty at over 10oz with holly leaves embossed, it's hard to say if it's color (sort of a cross between gold and copper) is a type of plating or if that's the metal itself. The golden grommets for the belt holes appear to be some sort of light metal instead of plastic, so that's good. Given the thickness of the belt material, I have high hopes these grommets won't fall out so easily as they did in my former cheap plastic belt.According to the seller, this belt is made of "naugahyde", which is actually a type of coated vinyl with an imprint pattern that tries to look like leather, which works a bit better than Santa trying to look like an NBA player, but not much. This vinyl is made thicker and stiffer by being backed with a woven light grey material (maybe polyester or some other polymer?).The vinyl is trimmed with a thin 1/4" border made with some sort of thin dull black fabric. This is what I would expect would wear out first. There is a belt loop which is too big, but fortunately they secured it to the back of the belt with a little fabric tether else it would quickly slide off the end of the belt and be lost forever.Overall, a much better costume belt without spending over $100 for real leather. We'll see how long this lasts but I have high hopes!

It's nice. But the Naugahyde is not as thick as one might hope for
I've been playing Santa for 25 years ... I have authentic high-quality Santa boots and a very high-end costume, except for the belt. I never got around to replacing that cheap belt. So this year I thought I'd make the shift. This belt has rave reviews on Amazon and runs about half the price of the leather Santa belts on Amazon, so I thought I'd gamble. I'm kinda sorry I did. The only thing that is quality about this belt is the buckle. It is VERY nice. But the black Naugahyde is only about 15 - 20% thicker than the cheap belt I had, and frankly, looks about the same. The rivets in the holes are the exact same cheap metal as on my cheap costume belt. The buckle is great. The belt? Meh. So yes, the buckle is VERY nice, but this belt is not worth the price asked. I wished I spent the extra money to get a nice leather Santa belt.By the way, if this is all your budget allows, know that the belt runs pretty large. If you even think you might need the smaller one, GET THE SMALLER ONE.

Very Good Upgrade Belt
Definitely an upgrade to the belt that comes with budget-friendly Santa suits. Really takes the suit to the next level. But still get what you pay for!The beautiful etched buckle is the prize here. It alone earns 5 stars from me.The belt is bonded naugahyde. It has one end-keeper; and it’s a good one. There are 2 problems with the belt:1. It fits on the buckle with a lot of play, so it rarely sits on the suit straight. Two large paper clips reducing the space in which the belt can wiggle helps.2. Naugahyde is not extremely durable. With daily wear for a month, the metal grommet used most frequently is pulling out of the belt.3-stars for the belt5-stars for the buckle equals4-star overall productVery good 5-star belt for an occasional Santa. One-season at best for a Santa in the suit for most of a month-plus.Great upgrade belt or back-up belt till Santa ponies up for real leather!

Questionable Value.
Shipping was considerably faster than promised or expected. Belt and buckle was exactly as described. I expect it will serve me well for many years. Not . . .Update: Rating reduced by two stars. Belt hole reinforcement has popped out and belt is beginning to tear. Made it through the season and will look for repair materials to use as a backup but have the year to obtain a quality leather replacement.

I'd buy it again, just for the buckle!
Wow. For the price, you won't find better. The belt itself is meh. Not bad. It'll do for a couple of seasons but that buckle is worth the price of admission! It's HUGE, heavy, shiny, and beautiful! Eventually, I'll invest in a nice leather belt but I'll be keeping this buckle to use again and again. Well worth the price and then some. You won't be disappointed. The fit was exactly as described. I measured around the biggest part of my belly and chose a size that would put that number right in the middle. It's perfect.

O.k. For the price
The buckle is really great, the belt is vinyl which I knew up front. Two problems the grommets or the belt holes are pretty cheap and unless you are REALLY careful they will pop out while trying to put the belt on. The vinyl isn’t thick enough to actually support the weight of the buckle, it wants to try to twist. Going to have to put a safety pin or maybe some Velcro on the backside to make it lay right. It looks good for the price and will get me through this Christmas season.

Very snazzy belt
I love the buckle on this belt. The belt is pretty well made and should hold up just fine, since on my Santa suit it is simply for show and doesn't actually hold up anything. My suit uses suspenders for the pants. A perfect accessory for my Santa suit. I am a 43" waist & even with a Santa padding belly accessory, I had to add 4 smaller belt holes to keep this from slipping off while in my suit. Adding new holes was easy with a little patience and some small grommet holes. I would whole heartedly recommend this belt, just for the buckle alone. It looks excellent for all us would be Santa's. Ho Ho Ho!!!
