I had never tried Yerba Mate before buying this product, so I can’t compare it with other brands of tea. What I discovered is that I love the taste of this when iced and with a slice of lemon. It is the perfect summer drink here in Texas.

This is the yerba mate I encountered most frequently in homes and grocery stores in southern Chile, and I tend to trust my friends' quality and taste standards. This Taragui yerba mate does not disappoint. I'm glad I ordered the large 2.2-lb (kilo) bag because preparing it instantly transports me back to South America as well as being delicious and caffeinated. This is a product of Argentina, and it has the typical ratios of dust, leaves, and stems.

I usually purchase the sin palo version. This one seems a bit weak. I will look harder for sin palo next time I order.

My hubby went to grad school in Argentina back in the 80s, then lived/worked there for a while. This was always his favorite brand. So I got this big bag for him for his birthday, and the mate to go with it. He's a happy camper.
