My second Upright GO - and I still love it
I absolutely love this product. The Upright GO2 is actually my second one, and it's still awesome - I'll explain my journey with the product below.I have ALWAYS had bad posture. Both of my parents have poor posture, so some is probably genetic and some is probably learned (it took a long time for me to not slouch around people shorter than me for example).I bought my first Upright Go in around 2018 (I could be a little off on the timing). I loved it. I did have to sometimes recalibrate it when switching between sitting and standing at my desk, but it was super easy to do that. My posture significantly improved from wearing it. In late 2019 I broke my back, and therefore didn't need the Upright GO anymore. I couldn't sit comfortably for quite awhile, and had a hard back brace, plus was told to avoid leaning forward. Basically, if you REALLY want to improve your posture quickly, wear a hard back brace, and be told if you lean forward or slouch you could end up needing surgery :) I must have given away the Upright GO - I don't remember exactly what I did with it, but I know I decided I didn't need it.Well, fast forward 5 years, add a baby and years of work from home, and my posture had regressed quite a bit. In fact, I have severe TMJ dysfunction likely as a result of my posture. I've spent the last year working with an upper cervical-specializing chiropractor, a TMJ-specializing dentist, doing tons of yoga and bodywork, lots of rounds of botox in my masseter and other jaw-connecting muscles, etc. Then recently I thought - what about that thing I used to wear on my back that helped my posture so much??I ordered the Upright GO2 last week, started wearing it a few days ago, and already feel so much better! My core and back muscles are SORE - but that's a good thing. I know that my issue with posture is that the front of my body is too tight, and the back of my body is weak, plus my core needs work. Being constantly reminded to stay straight is working the weak muscles and forcing me to stretch the tight ones. I'm SO happy. Here's my list of suggestions for new users:1. Focus on CORRECT posture - use your core to lift your rib cage and lengthen your spine, and relax your shoulders down and back. The old 'pull your shoulders back' is just wrong - it's not at all about pulling, it's about finding the right position and relaxing.2. Stretch! The muscles that have been holding you in bad posture are tight. You'll know where those are when you start to correct your posture. For me it's my pecs, my biceps, and the front of my neck. It's important to stretch throughout the day to help alleviate the tightness.3. This is one tool in your toolkit. I do think that this is an AMAZING tool. if you can't afford regular chiropractic care, but you can pull together enough for this tool, you can still have significant improvement. That said, if you can afford a chiropractor and/or bodywork, do that too. They are very complementary.4. Be consistent. It's hard to be consistent, but it's important, and worth it in the end.Wow- I've never written so much about a product... I guess that says something. Hopefully this is obvious, but I've been in no way incentivized to write this - I'm just a fan. I hope to update this review at some point with even more progress, especially with my TMJ pain.

Amazing. My neck, shoulder, and back pain was significantly reduced after two days.
About 15 months ago, I came out of an 8-hour-long surgery with significant pain. An old injury, plus decades of stress, non-treatment via telemedicine, and medical arrogance by so-called "professionals" put me on a path where I just had to live with the pain. We chased the problem, going from one specialist to another for over a year. When we finally made it to physical therapy I had the fortune of getting a P/T who wasn't just a credentialed idiot. He pegged my posture as a contributing factor that was aggravating the damage to my neck and back. Since I felt significantly better after the P/T because we were working on my posture doing the exercises, I decided to look into something to help with posture. I didn't think braces and straighteners would work because those pull down on the shoulder and my shoulder muscles are already too strong. They would pull up agains the pressure, making them stronger, the opposite of what I was doing in P/T, which was dropping the shoulders when they pulled up. So I decided to try the Upright GO because if it didn't work, I could always send it back.As someone who spends significant time in front of a computer, I had already tried all sorts of ergonomic solutions, including an expensive chair and a standing desk. While these helped, I was still limiting my time in front of the computer to 20 minutes and lots of breaks. This significantly impacted my ability to work and get things done and I fell woefully behind. I also noticed that when stress increased no amount of stretching, P/T, gadgets, or standing instead of sitting helped. My back and neck would not only clench, but spasm. My migraines were so frequent that there were weeks where I could not get anything done. The first day of wearing this was very interesting. The device kept going off again and again. I had no idea, no awareness, of how much I was slouching, pulling forward, and tensing up. I could not feel what I was doing. It's like my body had a mind of its own and I was not in control of it. I almost gave up on using the device because the interruptions were not letting me concentrate, but --and this is the important part-- my pain was significantly reduced. The space between my shoulder blades was very sore, but my neck and back weren't contorting themselves into spasms that made me see stars. I wore the Upright GO 96 minutes the first day (more than the recommended 60 minutes) but I could see that it was already making a difference.Up until we had to travel and experience the joys of hotel beds, convention chairs, and airline "service" I was doing significantly better. I had a bit of a setback because of the travel, but I shudder to think at how much worse it would have been without it. Because when you're tired and can't rest, it gets harder and harder to maintain correct posture. This poor little thing was buzzing its little heart out the entire time. Nevertheless, I wore it most of the day.It was pricier than some of the other solutions out there, but I would buy it again. Why? Because it doesn't rely on downward pressure which I would have inadvertently fought all day, making my problem worse. Today, about a week and a half after I started wearing it, I adjusted the upright ranged from 5 to 4 (a stricter range).I like the iOS app and it's interface. It lets me set things up and turn the device on or off. It lets me recalibrate if it's too strict when I get tired so that I don't go back to slouching all the time even if I can't quite keep sitting/standing as straight as I should. My P/T is thinking of doing a case study because he says he's never seen anything like it. Yay. Go me!

So far so bad!
I was really excited to get this item and start improving my back health and posture right away. First thing you realize out of the box, is it comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable. Who uses this? Their company may find it a brilliant idea to use a charging cable that is not a major industry standard, but I do not. Between Apple and Samsung, they have 54% of market share of mobile phones. That means 54% of all chargers or Apple and Samsung as well. What is it they provide again?Emailed Martin at Upright, and he was no help at all. He sent me a link to where I can get this charger on Amazon, but it will take more than 2 weeks to get it because nobody uses this stupid connector. So, I'm already frustrated because this item only has a 10% charge in it, so I probably can't use it even for a full day. Next my girlfriend and I go through the steps to get it set up and going. We shave a little area of my back, clean it, and then re-clean the area with the alcohol wipe that they provided. Stick it on, get it calibrated and go for a walk.I'm pretty excited about this because I'm doing well and not getting buzzed for bad posture at all. I go to feel for it, and realize the crappy glue pads suck and the item fell off somewhere during my walk. I went back and found it and it had fallen off within the first five minutes of my walk. I'm lucky I found it of that would have been $80 out the window through no fault of my own. Also the Upright GO-2 just feels cheap and crappy. Made to break I would say.So far, I say 2 thumbs down way down.
