Classy!
The media could not be loaded. I got one of these many years ago from a museum gift shop, but after a while I broke it. It had a glued-on plastic base that separated while I was cleaning it (it was in the kitchen so it got cooking fat on it), the base clipped the evacuation nipple, and the vacuum was lost. I was reminiscing about it recently and decided to get another one. This one is even better than that previous one! I like that it's one piece glass, gives it an antique look. And it's very efficient, it will run on an overcast day, which I don't remember my first one being able to do. Overall very satisfied with my purchase!

Everyone should have a radiometer
A radiometer is a wonderfully simple but magical bit of science. I bought this for my granddaughter's 11th birthday. Delivery was as promised and it is a beautiful piece. Well packaged, this blown glass globe arrived intact.

Good present
Purchased as a present for my Mom. She said she remembers these from her childhood and was pleased with it.

Works fine, but shoddy construction
I can't complain too much as it does what it's supposed to - it spins in sunlight or other bright light. But the construction is visibly shoddy - the vanes are bent at slightly off angles and aren't as smooth and uniform as they should be. None of that affects performance, but this is basically a piece of science art and as such, aesthetics matter.

Poorly made, poorly designed, but spins in full sunlight
I bought two, with the expectation that one would work. That's how it worked out, as well.As others have mentioned, construction is shoddy. The black vanes have the coating scratched off in several places, edges are rough, vanes are crooked, etc. The radius of the needle bearing surface is too large, and much of the spin momentum is wasted in wobble. In short, it looks like something a small child glued together, possibly in the dark. When it's spinning, you don't notice these things. But when it's spinning slowly you can tell, and it diminshes the mystery. I would easily pay three times more for a better made product.
