Our kelp variety comes under the scientific name Fucus vesiculosus, also known as bladderwrack. Kelp has been used as a medicinal aid for hundreds of years. If you’re careful about how much iodized salt (most table salt has added iodine) you consume, or follow a vegan diet, chances are you won’t be in taking enough iodine from natural resources. In addition, kelp and bladderwrack are generally quite hard to find as a food source on the supermarket shelves or restaurant menus, which is why supplementing is very beneficial.
