Brilliant design
Brilliant design! I tried using other rare earth magnets, but they didn't stay put. This also has shielding so the magnetic field doesn't extend away from the filter. I haven't done any tests on how well it's working, but logically it makes sense. Captures the micro metal shavings down to 1 micron that cause more wear than the larger particles. From their website:Experts agree that the smallest particles produce the greatest wear.“The significance of proliferating particles in the 10µm domain is phenomenal. Particles under 10µm cause 3.5 times more wear.”—Review of Lubricant Contamination and Diesel Engine Wear; William M. Needelman and Puliyur V. Great Product - used these before on other vehicles. Forgot to have the oil change facility to remove them and place them on new filter.
