Good book, i love the entire "Chronicles of Gor" ...
Good book, i love the entire "Chronicles of Gor" series. I even go as far as RPing it on SL. My favorites so far are "Captive of Gor", "Slave Girl of Gor", and "Kajira of Gor". I am currently on book 22 "Dancer of Gor" and enjoying it just as much. If you like Sci-fi and erotica with a focus on "Master/slave" or "Dominance/submission" themes you will love this book and the entire series, all 33 books.

Full of excitement
A beautiful woman naked, continually ravished, is a frightening thought. Her enjoyment of these sufferings is delightful. The descriptions of her tortures are erotically arousing. The imagination of the author is amazing and even sounds realistic. A great book.

Nicely told narrative
My understanding is that John Norman had ghost writers to help with writing, but I don't know if this is true. After the fourth book in this series I noticed a difference in the treatment of the main characters. I have some disappointment in this, but I will continue to read all of the books if possible. Not wanting to do spoiler... In general, the books are continuing to be consistent in the Gor cultural construct. Also, the thing that makes the one continuing character different does not seem to be there anymore. I am hoping that by later books I can see some additional humanity. However, it is not my story being told. I just have to read to see what happens!

Slave girl
I found this book to be much better than captive of gor. I think it is still a good idea to read the books in order though to fully understand the story.

Umm
Ok, I have been reading a lot of BDSM style books and I don't dislike the idea of a female slave world if it was well written. This however, was not well written. There is nothing here to intrigue me.

Not Much Story
My copy said 742 pages of which 700 pages are about being a slave girl. Absolute trash. The rest actually moves the Gor/Kurii/Tarl Cabot story forward and is very good. If you read any of the slave stuff you should note the repetitive nature of the writing plus the apparent inconsistencies of being a slave girl alternating between "I can't believe what I am and I love being tortured and beaten." I assume Norman is writing this tongue-in-cheek. The TarlCabot saga is actually reasonably good sword and sorcery sci-fi.

Possibly the best fantasy book ever written.
The pinnacle of fantasy novels, this is a great read from cover to cover.

Interesting, but slow read
The Slave Girl of Gor gives the reader an interesting perspective of a young woman thrust upon the planet known as Gor; she finds herself in an idyllic alien world which has different cultural values and customs to that of her native earth.`Judy Thornton' the English Major and Poetess is enslaved almost immediately upon arrival and is won in a challenge when the strapping Gorean Male a Captain of the City of Ar challenges what appears to be two outlaws ready to kill the young woman after a long and confusing set of events right from the opening of the book. The book starts rather slowly as you are viewing things through the girl's eyes and so the reader as well as she has no understanding of the language or gestures being used to control her; it is only later when she understands the language does the book become more alive and interesting. The plot from the beginning is not clear it just seems like a chronicle of the life of a Gorean slave girl and how she is viewed as property and is used at the whim and mercy of the typical Gorean male; however we do find later on as the tale progresses that the mighty Captain of Ar is not as he appears when in the presence of this slave girl.Overall the book itself paints an interesting picture of Gorean life through the eyes of a slave girl as well as has a plot that is credible and well thought out when it appears in the latter chapters of the book.

Gorean Saga is a great adventure
Another one I have been meaning to get to, I have read 4 Gor saga books so far and enjoyed every single one of them. I have no doubt this will be a good one as well. I have it on my kindle and will be getting to it shortly
