Flavor and spice are nice!
These make for a great snack or even lunch. I pair mine with triscuts, and hot sauce for some additional heat.

Best sardines I've ever had - fantastic for keto folks during Lent
Bottom line: if you are in need of a pescatarian keto meal, these are THE BEST.Ate these with mashed avocado and fresh pico de gallo (tomato, onion, cilantro). They're so tasty, it barely feels like Fish Friday! Bet they'd be great with poached or scrambled eggs.Very similar flavor to Bela's peri peri sardines, but whereas Bela has 4-5 sardines to the can, Matiz had only 3. Firmer texture. Major difference is that I don't need to drain the oil in the Matiz. It's very mild and smooth, and not too much salt (the Bela is VERY salty). Neither is all that spicy in my opinion, but then I like spicy food and have a high tolerance. Could be my imagination, but the Matiz sardines smell less strong than the Bela...I don't get as many comments at work on how my lunch smells! Lol.If you like flavorful sardines and the barest hint of spice, you'll like the Matiz.

Tip on enjoying the taste and value of Matiz Sardines - IMHO
First, taste I a personal preference and bias. But my preference for really enjoying these sardines is the following: organize sunflower crackers, eat (by the pinch) of raw green onions, parsley, oregano, and garlic from the garden. Add some lemon zest and a small pinch of chili powder. Mead wine if you prefer or just lemon/lime (from the vine) added to some pelligrino sparkling water. I say from the garden and vine the same afternoon. Sit in the shade and have aa ball! IMHO...

Good sardines (not mushy like lots of other brands) with a little spice

Spain has the best canned seafood. This is a good affordable entry to that world.
This like all other Matiz sardines are the #1 quality sardines for this price range. You can pay more for uber high quality Spanish sardines and perhaps someday I will try them. Until my trust fund ship sails into port these are my top choice and are better than any other sardines. These are my favorite because they have a little spicy pepper but don't be turned off too much as these aren't very hot. Full transparency - I wished they were about 5 times as hot but whatever they are still great flavor. My wife prefers the lemon flavored ones which also have a subtle flavor that you would never notice if these were poor quality fishy tastin' ones. Packed in olive oil so healthy Omega-3's are here to be had in the right oil for healthy living. These only come in hole fishes without the heads so if you are looking for fillets then look for kippers and not these. To me this is no big deal but some folks need to know. I began with smoked kippers and if you are a little squeamish like me that's where you probably need to start as well. Just work your confidence up to whole sardines and try these first before those cheap ones you find in the store.
