Excellent. Functions perfectly, but only expect no more than 5 years of daily use outside before they stop working...general corrosion. I have purchased several over the years. I will buy them again.

Easy to read combo numbers but the shackle could be longer

We built a fence on a remote field and wanted quick access to the gate, while keeping others away. This combination lock seemed to be the perfect answer, as we wouldn't need to worry about losing the key. My only regret is that the individual numbers on the lock are small and difficult to read. Because they're so small, it's challenging to move them, especially in cold weather. Before installing it, I sprayed the mechanism with silicone spray in the hopes of keeping them free moving and avoiding rust. I've only had it a couple of months, so it's too early to tell how this lock will perform long term.

Very nice lock. We live in Houston, TX and the humidity is brutal. Just removed the lock after a few months to have our fence gate replaced and the lock is as new as the day I put it on the fence latch. It is easy to set the combination and the best part of setting the combination is that you do not need a special tool but only a flat head screwdriver. I would highly recommend this outdoor lock. Update: July 25th,2020. I have unlocked this outdoor lock at most two times in 4 years. Looks brand new and unlocked easily after almost 4 years in Houston, TX where the humidity and heat are brutal.

Thanks ABUS - your lock is junk. Had it installed for less than two weeks on our driveway gate and one day it decided to randomly stop working. Thankfully it was the day BEFORE we left the country for two weeks - and not the day after, so you know...our horses could be looked after while we were away.... If you have ±$30 bucks to light on fire and you don't plan on putting it on anything critical then maybe...but probably not... You owe me a lock ABUS.

We have used several brands of all-weather padlocks for yard and jobsite gates. Most last about two or three years and the numbers get hard to read and often the shackle becomes difficult to pull out, despite applications of lock lube. The dust and sand takes a toll. One ABUS lock is five years old and looks and performs as new. I think any other brand of combination mechanical padlock is a waste of money.

My second Abus lock. Liked the first that I bought several years ago but tried to reset the combo and now can’t get it open. Perhaps my fault. Decided to buy this one with a long shackle, which I definitely prefer. It’s generally good as an external lock. I do wish it had more prominent ‘wheels’ to turn the combo numbers. Especially when trying to open in the elements. You’ll need to periodically lubricate the lock.

The finish on this lock is so mirrored, it reflects back to the street as the brightest object, advertising that there is a huge padlock on the gate. It was a clear day when I installed the lock so thankfully I had an old welding helmet so I could see to do the task. The lock function is great, too. Whenever we change pool companies, boom. We change the unlock sequence. Simple! Pretty sure the sun reflection off this lock is visible from space. I will check after the next Google satellite shots are updated.
