Claimed 40% stronger on ultimate strength test than the strongest production seatposts on the market. Post and cradle machined from 1 piece 7000 aluminum. 41mm rail clamping area. Micro adjust, dual pivoting bolt head. Zero clamp offset. 235g (27.2x330).

0 setback
I picked this seat post because it has zero setback and I do a climb ride every season! Light weight 235 g and looks great

Looks great
Perfect length if you don’t want a whole bunch of unused tube sitting in your bike. Logo gives it a premium look without overdoing it. Bolts were initially a bit of a pain to install but easy to adjust once they were in place. No slippage so far.

Nearly perfect.
This post is surprisingly lightweight, considering the robust build. The only (unwelcome) surprise was that the bolts mounting the clamp to the seat rails are ferrous and will rust over time. In addition, the bolts are semi-spherical, as are the washers, making finding a replacement a considerable challenge. Not a deal-breaker for most riders, but considering how close this post is to perfection, it's disappointing that Thompson would overlook this detail. I would have happily paid a few extra dollars for a seat post that could have been perfect.

Smart engineering and super light.
I was very hesitant to purchase the bent stem because I thought it might look a little "wonky". However I have always advocated function over form. And I always have my saddles slid as far back as they can go, so this engineering solution of bending the post as opposed to having a heavy chunk of metal to provide offset for a straight post is ingenious. And you know what? It actually looks pretty cool once installed!

A Work of Art!
Thomson makes great components. I've never been disappointed.

Fantastic Craftsmanship
I’ve been slowly building my own personal ‘hot rod’ go-anywhere CX bike. For this build I’m going for pure awesomeness, so I’m carefully picking each component. The requirements for each component are simple: they have to function really well and they have to look awesome.Next up was the seatpost. I mulled over a bunch of various seatposts for a couple days. Should I go for carbon? Should I go for aluminum? What brand should I get? What color? During my search I kept coming across Thomson, which seems to be the gold standard for a really solid no frills yet still awesome seatpost, so I ordered one. This thing is perfect! The craftsmanship, quality and finish are way above average. I really dig how easy it is to adjust the saddle angle. With seatposts in the past I always had a problem getting it just right but with the Thomson it’s painlessly simple. I can’t figure out why this isn’t the standard way to set the angle, other seatposts overcomplicate it and make adjusting cumbersome.Yeah, the Elite isn’t the lightest seatpost, but whatever, this build isn’t about that. This is a finely crafted piece that will likely outlast me, even if I wreck my bike a few times. Next I’m going to swap out my stem and you better believe I’m going with a Thomson (likely the X4).If you don’t mind plunking down a bit more cash for something you can truly be proud of then I highly recommend considering a Thomson. This is one of the easiest 5-stars I’ve ever given, and I’m the annoyingly picky type.

Zero Off-Set Solved my seat placement problems
I have a MASI criterium frame built in the 1960s which I used for amateur racing in those days. Now I am 50 years older, fatter, and arthritic. I had a Campagnolo seat post with a clamp that was set back off center about a 1/2 inch to the rear from the center of the down-tube. I had the seat as far forward as I was able but wanted even more forward adjustment. I read with some trepidation the problems some had with diameters of the seat post and seat angle problems; but, since 93% of reviewers who bought it were pleased with the post, I ordered it. Boy am I glad. The seat post diameter 27.2 mm fit perfectly to the down-tube and the extra length [400mm] allowed me to move the seat up a few mm higher than the Campagnolo post allowed and the Thompson seat clamp zero off-set from down-tube center gave me the ability to place the seat 1/2" towards the front of the bike all my prayers were answered. Less stress on my arthritic knees and the forward seat placement eliminated numb hands by lessening the amount of downward pressure as I was no longer leaning as far forward. If you have an off-set seat post clamp this zero off-set will allow about 1/2 inch forward placement compared to the standard off-set. Since there was no inner diameter problem with my 27.2 mm down-tube I would imagine those who had problems had non-standard down-tubes. Highly Recommended.

Great post, works well
Like all Thomson products this works well and is nicely machined. Fitting and levelling the saddle was simple. Highly recommended.

Bel prodotto!!
