Tastes great and gives you energy for endurance sport
The main reason I bought this was because I saw that world class American cross-country skier, Ben Ogden, endorses it. Ben was vlogging from the WCs in Norway, and I asked him about this. He said he really likes it. I have used it a couple of times now on long skis, and I really like it, too. It tastes great and gives me sugar and, with the coffee infused flavor, some caffeine, too.

How Sweet it Is!
These tubes of maple syrup are being marketed as on-the-go energy supplements but we have discoveredtheir usefulness when car camping or backpacking in situations when refrigeration is not available. One tube is just the right amount for two plates of pancakes. That's a treat that will perk you up in the morning. And there is no heavy, breakable glass bottle to lug around.

Crave them even when not running!
Got these to use along with other athletic gels to for long-distance running. These are super delicious. I find myself getting excited to run the next few miles so I can get a syrup treat! I even crave them when I'm not running and it almost feels like an extra motivation to run. They are sticky so you gotta open them gently and put the wrapper in a pocket that you don't mind getting sticky. Really easy on your stomach and you don't need to wash down with water. They don't have a ton of calories like some of the gels do, but I just take a few extra with in case I need the boost.

best for marathon
This was the best for me for my marathon run. It is totally natural. Since it is just real maple syrup is is thin liquid and gets absorbed fast. No funny fast, not weird tasting. I used 4 of these on my last marathon.

Sweet and smooth
This is a good fuel. I used it in a recent marathon, and it was pretty good. It's a little on the sweet side -- it is just maple syrup -- so you might want to have a few salty/savory gel options available, because I think a few hours of just this would be a bit much. One of the best things about this is the consistency -- even in a cold-weather race (40 degrees), the syrup stayed quite liquid and was easy to eat. By contrast, I had to warm up GU brand in my hands for a few minutes to get them to an easily slurpable consistency.

Surprisingly good!
I do a lot of distance running and cycling, and I've been trying to find an energy gel that doesn't make me sick. The Gu's and Hammer Gels taste funny or are too viscous for me to suck down while exercising. When a friend suggested I drink maple syrup I laughed because the mental image of me chugging down a bottle of syrup during a run is rather funny. So I gave it a try anyway.I've done 4 long runs (>10 miles) with these and they've worked out very well. They are easy to suck down while running even when it's below freezing outside (when it's below freezing, Gu/Clif gels are like rocks) and don't seem to make me feel nauseous after an hour of exercising. My energy has been at a decent enough level so I feel that I won't hit that sugar crash I seem to do with some energy gels. They're about as messy as the Gu's are over my fingers but unlike them, when I lick my fingers clean (yes, I am that runner) of the precious gels, I feel happier because I'm thinking of waffles and how delicious waffles will be when I finish. Yes, it's delusional - but after 90 minutes of exercise I'd rather cling to the hope that there'll be post-race waffles to look forward to versus the normal stuff. The only downside is the price. $45 a box comes out to $2.25 per unit - double the cost compared to the generic Gu's. But you can't put a price on quality taste and treating your GI system well. And as I gear up for 3 fall marathons, I look forward to sweet delicious syrup powering my runs.

My go to gel for the marathon!
First off I'll start by saying I am NOT a runner. I run in a 10k and 1 or 2 half marathons a year and up until I decided to try and run a full marathon, I had been using CLIF BLOKS energy chews. This is because all of the gels I had tried up until then, I just couldn't eat during a race as the taste was just too bad. I would feel sick to my stomach during the race and be running the whole time with a bad after taste in my mouth. But I knew I would need something for a full marathon and didn't want to carry a bunch of CLIF BLOKS packs with me as I prefer to run as light as possible. At the recommendation of a friend who has run in the Boston Marathon, I decided to give these a try. I used them for the first time in some 8 to 10 mile training runs and they tasted great (who doesn't like maple syrup?). My only worry was that, nutrient wise, I wouldn't be replacing enough glycogen as I was under the impression that since gels are specifically made for that, they are more effective. But I decided that the better taste was worth the risk of potentially cramping at the end. Well, in the end, I packed 8 into my shorts pockets (1 for the start of the race and 6 during the race, with 1 extra just in case) and I didn't end up cramping and finished in 4:22 for my first marathon. These are now my go to packs for all my races. And I'll be running again in the marathon with the hopes of finishing in under 4 hours this time. Also, support by UnTapped is excellent as well. I had one box arrive where one of the packs had broken open and leaked out on to everything. Doug responded immediately through Amazon and sent a replacement box right away at no additional charge.
