River Country Premium Floating POOL THERMOMETER Pools, Hot Tubs, Ponds & More

However, after less than two years, the clear plastic over the eLander thermometer has completely fogged up. The clear plastic remains quite clear on the River Country thermometer.So, on Feb 27, 2023, I replaced the unreadable eLander with a new River Country thermometer.

Would prefer string from the top, but ti seems to be a good one.

I use this for my fish tank. It's easy for me to read and appears to be accurate.

This thermometer is "spot on". I checked it against my CDN digital cooking thermometer (purchased from Amazon) and they both read 74 degree's. It is a little smaller than the picture (not bad) the gray color seems to match my pool grout better than white. My only gripe is the scale is a little small (because I am getting older) and the mercury is blue instead of red. But I will take accuracy over high visibility any day. I may just buy another for my spa. Quality build.Update: Checked this unit against my accurate cooking Thermometer (here on Amazon)and I am upgrading the review, and ordering another for my spa. Quality..oh yeah.

I just bought another one of these thermometers. We use it for the bath. It finally came apart after eight years. I think that is pretty good for the money, that it lasted so long. The new one, the temperature is a bit off, by two degrees, it seems. It is hard to find a good pool thermometer. I finally plugged up the bottom of the old thermometer with the cord, so it still works, better than the new one.

Went to remove the removable float to allow the thermometer to sink (I've bought these before) and it snapped off the end of the thermometer casing so be gentle. They are inexpensive so handle as such. Maybe I'll try to presoak in warm soap water to loosen the float if I choose to get another. It is not screwed on, should slide off but it does rotate to break it loose. They are good to hang off a dock to monitor lake temps without the float attached. I remove mine and set on dock to dry out sometimes to minimize the algae buildup.

It was inexpensive! It floats! It is easily located in the pool! I can read the indicator easily!(Am I allowed to add: In contrast, the Blue Devil B8155C Thermometer, 8-Inch, failed and became unreadable after just a few days.)?

The thermometer indicating tube and scale are enclosed in a separate glass vial, and look to be securely aligned. The vial is inserted in the floating plastic housing, and held in place with a rubber plug: very easy to disassemble for cleaning.I compared this thermometer with a calibrated scientific thermometer, and its accuracy was 2%. Not too bad for a pool or a pond, but in a hot tub/spa at 100ºF, it read 102º. At least it read too high, which is safer than reading too low!Time will tell how well it holds up, but it looks like it'll last a while.Update July, 2017: three years later the thermometer is as good as new. Now, I don't leave it in the pool, I only put it in every few days for a few minutes to check the temperature, so it has seen minimal time in the water, but it does live in the pool equipment shed, and has been exposed to temperature extremes, and the accuracy hasn't changed.
