Hyder Wood Shelf, Espresso

A different company makes shelves that look virtually identically to these including the same dimensions. I have several of those other shelves in my home and I like them. I needed 2 more but inexplicably the price of the small version of those shelves shot up unreasonably so I decided to try these because they look so much like my other shelves I didn't think you'd be able to see that these were different.I was correct; you can't see the difference between my other shelves and these shelves... until you get really close. But when you do get close you see that _these_ shelves are actually much higher quality. The wood is higher quality, it fits together more exactly and when your are very close these just look nicer. I wish I'd known about these shelves from the beginning! Recommended.

I purchased two of these to use in my bedroom/office. They are functioning as dual duty stands; one is a nightstand with a lamp, clock, etc and the other holds my printer on top. The shelves hold paper, ink, files - everything I was looking for to tidy up the “office look” in my bedroom. My husband assembled both on less than an hour. I would have given 5 stars across the board but the printer does cause the unit to wobble just the slightest bit when I’m working. All in all, I couldn’t be happier — and the price was amazing!

One of the pre-drilled holes for the wood screws was drilled out to a wider diameter. To compensate for this I had to use a longer screw to get it together. The other problem is the support/book retaining board that mounts in the back of the shelves, the dowel holes weren't drilled deep enough. I ended up having to cut an 1/8 of an inch off of the dowels to get the shelves and the side frame to connect firmly to each other. It was actually pretty sturdy once I got it together. If you have some skills and basic tools, it's nothing that you can't overcome but if you don't have either or both, don't buy it.

Came in perfect condition and with all the screws and hardware necessary for the assembly of it. Easy to build. The small holder that goes on the back of the shelf for support is a little loose because no screws are holding it together, only a small piece of wood. It came true to size and color and can hold a significant amount of weight on it and it looks beautiful.

This shelf was easily put together and has a very solid feel to it. A couple of things to note are that there are places where the finish on the boards feels like it may be ready to start chipping away (from out of the box). There were also a couple of places where when constructed the different boards were not flush -- it seems like this may be a slight fault in design. Additionally, I got the impression (no data to currently support this ... yet) -- that this shelf will slowly over time become a bit loose in the joints. Ultimately, I got what I paid for - a shelf that you construct with average supplies. All of that being said, it looks fabulous in my hallway and I'd do it all over again.

I needed a little shelf for my office and this is just right. Putting it together was not super easy but very doable. I did use a wrench to hold the tool they supplied because I am older and don't have the strength to do both sides.

I just needed something to hold a few TV things (router, modem, DVD player, etc), DVDs, books, and I was amazed how sturdy this is, made of wood, durable, & good looking in my living room. Read the dimensions. It is small, but that's what I needed!
