Floor stand or wall hook?
I am completely undecided if I want to display my stringed instruments with a hook type wall mount like this or a nice stand. There are so many of both types available and the value of reading reviews is that I’m beginning to learn what I should stay away from. I bought this one because I needed to round out an order and it was only a couple of bucks so if I didn’t like it I could use it for something else.As far as the hook type of mount it seems they fall into one of two broad categories … plastic or metal. The plastic ones seem to have a lot of gimmicks but most of them appear to be made of several pieces and experience has taught me that the more pieces and parts the more things can go wrong. Of the metal type it seems there are two similar styles. One is flat and the other, like this one, has upturned ends. I don’t want to see my instruments come tumbling down to the floor so I opted for the style with the upturned ends.I like that it is very sturdy and the part that attaches to the wall is solid despite being all plastic. The hooks are attached to it by some sort of rivet. The hooks are covered with a dense rubber material that doesn’t scratch. It is not the porous kind of foam rubber that can interact with the wood finish on some instruments and cause it to discolor. There are little plastic caps on the ends of the hooks. The unit comes in a little baggie with two screws and two plastic wall anchors.Maybe the thing that concerns me the most is the hooks adjust by swiveling outward. If you have a very small instrument like a ukulele that could twist sideways it could conceivably slip between the hooks. Likewise if your instrument is heavy it could put enough outward pressure on the hooks to let the instrument slide through. Keep in mind this is a very low-end hanger, obviously not meant to hold a rare classic instrument.By the way, what about using a stand instead of a wall hook? A couple of reasons come to mind. One is the thought of the dogs knocking it over or the cats using the instrument as a scratching post. The other major reason is I have yet to find a stand that is both attractive and versatile enough to hold anything from a banjo to a balalaika. The wall hook type pretty much can hold any stringed instrument.

Great for price, DON'T USE PROVIDED SCREWS
The design on these is pretty simple, how they can adapt to any instrument neck width and keep it because the gravity of the instrument pulls the arms down into the proper shape. The only annoying part is that the end where it sticks out is pretty narrow, so you need to turn the necks sideways to get them in, then turn them to face out. Could probably be solved if you were willing to bend the bars a little bit.Seems surprisingly sturdy for being mounted into plastic, I'm not sure how much weight I'd trust on it though, we'll see.Don't use the supplied screws, they are total junk. I made a pilot hole and everything, but I got the screw in half-way and one half just fell off.... took me 10 minutes to get the other end out. Use some real heavy duty screws. Also keep in mind if you plan to fit this onto a stabilized bar, like a piece of wood that's mounted into your wall properly, get something larger than a standard 2x4, because this won't fit vertically on it.

Great mount, but check the seller
I bought one of these for my acoustic guitar from seller DisplayGifts and thought it was a great product. Held up great, looked fine, and was super cheap. I decided to buy another one for my electric guitar, but I didn't pay attention to who the seller was. I now see that I bought from MusicInc2013. The mount that arrived today is almost the same. It has the same base and same padded prongs, but it doesn't have the same plastic caps at the end of the prongs. It's a minor aesthetic difference, but if I end up putting my mounts right next to each other, it will be noticeable. The bigger issue with buying from MusicInc2013 is that they didn't include any screws or drywall anchors! I know I have some around, but now I'll have to dig through my mess of a garage to find them. If I buy again, I'll make sure to buy from DisplayGifts.I am not in any way associated with any sellers. This is an honest, legit review.

It is what it is
Like many others floor space is rather limited at mi casa. I also have a dog with a nasty habit of having to "mark" everything that comes into contact with the floor. So needless to say your basic guitar stand was not an option with my $700 Dean from Hell. I had ordered this product prior to my having gotten the guitar (hoping that they would all arrive at the same time) so I was unaware at how heavy the Dean was. This one looked sturdy enough...and it would be, if it were an acoustic or lightweight/hollowbody electric. But the fact that I had to bend out the pegs just a smidge, so the end knobs won't chew up the neck when trying to access/store the guitar, had me doubting the longterm durability of this product. Don't need to come home 6 months from now & find the guitar on the floor with the headstock accross the room. It should hold up long enough for me to order the Hercules. Once I get the Hercules I'll be using this mount for my Rock Band guitar controller.

Very nice wall mount
These guitar hangers are great for the money. The arms that hold the guitar swivel allowing you to adjust to any normal sized guitar/bass. I would say things might get a bit snug if you have anything over 7-8 strings for a guitar as the arms only spread out to about 2.5-3 inches wide. The main reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the fasteners that come with the hangers are quite cheap and they send them with drywall screws (definitely not recommended in my opinion as they are much more brittle than wood screws and can snap head off if over tightened); and I had a head strip out on the plastic anchor on the first go. Also decided to mount my hangers to a board that is mounted to studs for a much nicer looking and stronger display using better fasteners.

The plastic broke and my guitar fell on the ground, DO NOT BUY
I was about to write a 5 star review until I came home today. I found my guitar on the ground because the guitar hanger broke off the wall, the cheap plastic simply cracked and let the guitar fall down. The only thing that saved my guitar from being totally broken is my amp who supported the guitar and prevented it from falling forward straight to the ground. The problem is 100% from the guitar hanger as the screws with the drywall anchors are still stuck in the wall. It's the cheap plastic that cracked after around 5 days of use. DO NOT BUY THIS, WITHOUT MY AMP MY GUITAR WOULD 100% NEED REPAIR. Check the photos to see where the plastic broke, the screws that are still attached and how I found my guitar.I want a total refund as this product is total garbage and it could have costed me my guitar.

Not just for guitars
This is a quality guitar hanger for real, adult-sized guitars, but my kid got a child's toy uke for Christmas; this keeps it on the wall and out of the toy box where it will be broken! He has a second one that he hangs his giant foam Zelda replica costume sword on. Works great.Came with screws and drywall plugs for a good anchor to the wall. Fully adjustable for all sizes of guitar/instrument/sword necks. My other kid got one too, because, well, kids. She hangs toys and necklaces and bracelets and other random things on hers that only a 3 year old would hang. She loves it.Should I ever need more of these, I'd buy them again.

These wall hangers are great, I have about 20 of them in use
These wall hangers are great, I have about 20 of them in use. The mounting hardware included works fine with drywall, I've never had one fall and do not worry about them. I was disappointed to see that the padding over the two posts that the guitar rests on has been made thinner on my more recent orders, the first ones I got were far superior as far as that goes, now the padding is only half as thick which is not as comforting. Seems silly to cut such a corner to save a few pennies, I wish the manufacturer had not cheaped out like that. But, they still work and one can always retrofit some thicker padding I suppose if you can find some tube stuff and cut it up to fit. Be wary of what you pay for these, some sellers sell for a few bucks each while others are selling for 15 bucks each and more. They are all the same, don't get burned by a high priced seller.
