these have been absolutely wonderful and great replacement for a robe sash. mainly use these for my bicycle but they are also great for strapping stuff to a hiking back pack

I bought these straps to replace the ones I purchased 15+ years ago for a sears car-go hard roof-top carrier. The original straps were a thicker, stiffer, and heavier. Also, the original straps used a sharp friction mechanism in the fastener, which eventually caused the straps to wear out right where the fastener meets the strap.These straps are lighter and easier to manipulate. The fasteners use a little roller with teeth that spins on an axis to grab the strap if it loosens, but allows it to freely tighten. I haven't used it on a trip yet, but everything feels very sturdy, and is much easier to tighten and loosen than the original straps.

I got these to secure some sand bags so I didn't need anything with crazy grip. They work well and are worth it for the price. But if you need something that has a firm gripper, you might want a different ratchet.

These are very poor quality. They are super thin with the cheapest buckles one could possibly make. Where the nylon is sewn onto the buckles the metal edges are thin and sharp, which means under pressure they will start to fray and rip. If your looking for something to last, don’t buy these.
