We have a switch that simultaneously powers on both an exterior wall outlet and a porch light (why did someone do it that way,I wonder?...anyhow...) and we needed the outlet to be on for the bug zapper to work but the light to be off so it doesn't draw the bugs away from the zapper. Yet we want the ability to easily turn on the porch light if needed, so putting in a dead bulb was no answer. So with this guy in place we now have the ability to turn the light on and off independently from the wall switch (which is always on since the zapper is on a light sensor timer). Works easily with the little chain and the light is located in easy reach. I'm sure the extra one (we got the 2-pack) will come in handy at some point, so I'm happy to have it on hand. Great value and quality, this was a good choice for us.(Not sure why Amazon asked me to rate it on motion detection quality, I don't think it's supposed to have that feature?)

Needed a fan in an attic so I could work and still have light.

Works as expected. However, the pull chains worry me, I shouldn't have to yank the chain hard enough to worry myself about pulling the light fixture out of the ceiling just to turn on or off the light adapter.

I've gone through a few of this type of pull chain socket adapters, and this is the first one that actually impressed me with regard to build quality. The housing is far better made than others -- it's a solid, durable plastic rather than the flimsy shells. It easily exceeds the build quality of not only the generic 'no-name' brands but also the build quality of name brands, such as GE.The pull chain action has a solid click to it. The chain itself is rather short, but it's easy to add an extension. As with most of these types of adapters, the outlets are always powered, with the pull chain turning the attached bulb on and off. Of course, rather than a bulb you can put in a screw in socket adapter and have the pull chain control whatever is plugged into the adapter.What I can't speak to as of yet is longevity. Others have lasted anywhere from a couple of months to about a year before the pull chain stops working. So far this has been working great -- I'll update the review if problems occur down the road. But for the moment, based on the build quality and pull chain action, this is a solid 5 star adapter, and a great value for the price.

It is a good product, great to have it in your car, but don't stop using it for a long period because next time you planning to use it, it will be bad. Seems like after a long period of no used it expire, them will be spread all over the places you applied. This just happened to me. But at the beginning was perfect. I do recommended.

Excellent product. I have a laundry room where the original ceiling fixture had a chain to turn the lights on and off. Over the years, the chain on the fixture have failed on mulitple occasions, causing me to change to another chain fixture since there was no wall switch in this particular room. The change was tedious and a lot more expensive than this product. This product allows for an easy change - just screw it into the light bulb socket and add a light bulb. The only modification I had to make was removing the tip of the chain and adding a longer chain so that it could be turned on and off without a ladder.

The chain on mine can only be pulled straight down meaning this only works with a vertical socket that is directly overhead. Take a step in any direction and the chain binds making it harder or impossible to pull. This is one of the devices where using a cord instead of a chain would make the on/off switch more versatile.

These are perfect for what I needed them for. They work great and are very easy to both install and use.

They work as advertised, but the pull chain is pretty finicky. You have to pull the chain out parallel to the light socket, so if your light bulb socket isn't pointing straight down, these are a pretty fussy.
