One of the best laxatives period
Being from a pharmaceutical background I usually do through search before buying an OTC medication/dietary supplement. I have used several different types of laxatives over the past few years. This one is the best of em all. It gives consistent results compared to the other alternatives and chances of habit forming are rare with this constituent (PEG). The worst thing you can probably use for chronic use is bisacodyl, please stay away from the claims that it is not habit forming. It is as it is a stimulant laxative and would eventually mess up with your peristalsis. The other helpful laxative I have found is psyllium husk, however over a period of time the effect decreases, plus it is inconvenient to take the huge doses every time. The best part of Miralax is its tasteless and blends with almost every beverage. However you need to be careful about drinking plenty of water when using this laxative as it absorbs water to exhibit its action. Drinking less water can tend to give you dehydration. Other than that the effect produced by this laxative is the best. Without being too much graphic, I would say the cycles are regular and does not hurt one bit (silky smooth indeed). The lubricant type of effect produced by this product is exclusive and I have not seen it happen with any other product. Overall, Highly recommended.

Feeling Like Oscar The Grouch? ='(
Then turn that ='( upside down =) try MiraLAX laxative Powder. It will definitely improve your poopittiude and have you chillaxing in peace , harmony. Birds will sing , Bees will buzz, Butterflies will flutter-bye, as you enjoy Your new state of complete relaxativity. =) A level of Zen only those who can't go fully understand. In all seriousness now: MiraLax is a great product. As someone who has had a lot of medications, surgeries, etc. Doctors recommend this product the most. As it can be put into whatever drink you want. I tend to use Orange juice or chocolate milk. It completely dissolves. There is no taste and no grit. You will never know it is there.I find that taking it at night works best. If I use it in the morning then I feel nauseated and unwell. The bottle says it can take three or more doses to work. I have never had that issue. One dose is usually sufficient. A family member found the same to be true after surgery. After a bit of fun I would say it is a great non-habit forming product that I would highly recommend.

Works great for cat with chronic kidney failure
I actually use this for my cat's constipation issues (due to CRF (kindey failure)). For months before we started her on this, she was very irregular, going only every few days with very lumpy, dry looking stools. After a scare of mega-colon and trip to the vet for an enema, I started researching on the internet for a solution to the constipation problem. This was one proposed solution that people seemed to have a lot of success with. It took a lot of trial and error to find the right dosage, but I am now giving her 1/4 teaspoon every morning (or slightly less depending on her appetite the previous day). I just mix it in with her wet food. It works like a miracle! She poops every day now, with smooth, solid stools, not runny or lumpy, just like it should be. I'm so glad we found a (incredibly easy and inexpensive) way to keep the cat alive and comfortable (and our floors clean). Hooray for MiraLax!

Helped my 12 year old son
My son became severely stopped up and constipated following tonsil surgery, likely due to two weeks on Lortab (vicodin). It went on for months and months, with me trying everything I knew, plus going to see various practitioners - nutritionists, colonics, Chinese medicine, etc. Then out of desparation - hard-core laxatives. They did not work. I was avoiding taking him to a gastroenterologist as I thought the only thing they would do was make him drink that horrible colonoscopy stuff and I couldn't imagine it happening. I finally realized I was out of options, and took him to the Children's Hospital Gastroenterology department in Denver. The MD we saw recommended doing a "Miralax clean-out" over a couple of days, and then using a daily amount of Miralax for several months. I had previously tried Miralax with him, but I had been afraid to use too much of it, or on an ongoing basis. He spent a lot of time with us, did some blood tests to make sure there wasn't anything else going on, and was quite reassuring that he could get my kid back on track. Man, I was skeptical. We did the clean-out, and have kept up with the Miralax. He is coming back to being regular. The dr. tells me that after a few months, his body will be able to take it back without the Miralax.I have read that some kids don't react well to Miralax. I can believe that. It isn't what I would call natural. The dr.'s believe that it is not harmful. Now, I know better - a lot of things that we think aren't harmful turn out to be just that. For me it's a tradeoff. There may well be a consequence for long-term Miralax usage. The dr we saw said that in 99% of the cases, it works out well. I had to take the risk. I was afraid my son was going to waste away. In our case, it turned my son's life completely back around. He had lost 20% of his body weight since his surgery, he wasn't really eating at all, and he was just....depressed. The Miralax has given him his life back. He does not seem to experience any negative side effects. I'm not sure how we would have gotten here without it, so I am quite grateful for it. He has slowly started to let go of his fear and start eating again, which has brought much relief for this mom. I have never been so worried about a kid.Everything has a tradeoff, and every body is different. You are doing the right thing if you educate yourself and knowingly take on the possible risks, which seem to affect a minority of the users. And I learned something - I wasn't giving Western medicine enough credit for having learned more than they knew when I was a kid.The first week or so, you or your child will feel bloated, but that passes.Good luck to anyone dealing with this problem -- I have empathy for you and your situation.
