## Description

Quvenzhan Wallis stars as Annie, a happy foster kid who?s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York.

Review: Great movie!! - This is my favorite version of Annie!! My granddaughter (age 6) loved it so much that I bought it for her. We watch it all the time!!
Review: Silly but respectful - Family-friendly, nothing my tender six-year-old couldn't handle, well updated to the 21st century and MUCH better than the old Carol Burnett version. Kudos to the Smiths for doing such a good job making a hokey kids' movie with an African-American lead cast and multicultural appeal that also crosses socio-economic boundaries. It's rare to find any tv show or movie in which so many different kinds of people can see themselves honorably (and humorously) represented. The script is appropriate for the target audience. For example, it hints that Ms. Hannigan drinks too much, but she is always shown with a Big Gulp cup in her hand. Read into it what you will but my kiddo only saw a big slushy cup and a silly woman. That's a huge step up from the obviously drunken, vodka bottle slinging drunkard in the original movie. Also, Annie is not an orphan now; she's a foster kid in NYC. That's more modern and realistic. It is also a lot less scary for the little kids watching. Of course her parents aren't dead -- they are just not in the movie right now! Annie is the eternal optimist (of course) and the foster kids all love each other (so sweet), but she has some obstacles to overcome as do the adults and so the plot moves along at a reasonable and understandable pace. Overall this was a nice movie I didn't mind watching this with my child a few times. Hint: get the chapter book made from the movie to read [with your kid] first THEN let him/her watch it. That's an even bigger reward and it will encourage your child to read.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the Best Remakes Ever!!!
*by N***A on July 18, 2015*

OMG! I loved this movie! Rarely do I like remakes because most of them sucked but I LOVED this remake of Annie. Annie is a big part of my childhood. I grew up watching the 1982 version so I was anxious to see this one. What really got me excited was that Annie is a black girl and there is a mixed cast! I loved that! It's about time little black girls have a positive movie that they can relate to. This remake proves that whether you are black or white, the magic of Annie is universal. This film was adorable, funny, and will have you singing along with the cast. Q Wallis is a genuine star and she charms from beginning to end. Jamie Fox is a hoot in the Staks AKA Daddy Warbucks role. He and Q had tons of chemistry and were wonderful in every scene. Cameron Diaz impressed the heck out of me and stole the show as far as I am concerned. She proves once again that she's not just a pretty face. What I like about Diaz is she isn't afraid to take roles that most glamorous actresses wouldn't touch. She made the movie for me. I highly recommend this film for wholesome, quality family entertainment! The whole family will be singing and dancing before it's over! This film has everything, even romance!
