Helpful for mowing equipment
They do a good job at cutting down the noise from mowing equipment. Obviously they don't block all the sound, but do a good job at knocking down the harshness of the noise from mower engines and string trimmers. I noticed a pretty big difference. They're decently comfortable, and stay in place pretty well, even through sweat. The cord is convenient to just hang em up when you're done. They seem to be of good quality for the price.

Best earplugs I've found....by far !
Reviews for this brand other earplug brands were helpful in my search so I wanted to do the same. These plugs are excellent ! Don't be swayed by their low cost for 3 pair, they're made by 3M. I'd had a pair of these for extensive international business travel and left them in a foreign country....I didn't know their brand because they'd been a gift. I'm extremely glad I found them again. They're on the side of being "larger diameter" but I'm a male with normal ear canal size and they work really well for me. On long international flights if I push them snugly into my ears they block 90% of the jet engine noise in flight ! which is a real benefit when you're trying to get some rest or sleeping. I can only imagine for loud power equipment and the like they'd really protect your hearing. Some really good features I find is the "flanges" that go in your ear are soft and pliable and the posts you grasp to insert the plugs and remove them are not flimsy, they're "firm" and easy to grasp. Before I found these on Amazon I'd ordered the Etymotic ETY-Plugs High Fidelity Earplugs, Standard Fit, Frost Tip for me they were way too small a diameter and no matter the position only blocked 30-40% of the noise at most, the Large would've probably been a better fit but I couldn't find them offered....I returned these. Prior to these I purchased the Junhua Reusable Silicon corded plugs....they had a very strong silicone smell when I opened the package and they were so soft and basically flimsy I couldn't get them properly positioned...the post you grasp to insert them is way too pliable and flexy which affects trying to use them... I returned these. I'm very glad I could find these replacements.

Revised Feedback
I originally gave this 1 star. These ear plugs didn't seem to do anything at first. There is a method to putting them in, though. I was putting them in straight, perpendicular to my ear and they really didn't block out anything. If you're familiar with the proper way to put foam ear plugs in, that will help with these. I pulled up on the tops of my ears before putting these in (the same way you do it with foam ear plugs). I also put them in at a slight angle as though I were aiming these at the backs of my eyeballs. They then lie at a small angle and work pretty well. The noise reduction was very noticeable.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I was under the assumption that putting anything in your ears must necessarily block at least some noise. I figured those saying they didn't do anything were exaggerating. I just got these and put them in at work. I notice no difference at all. I hear the sound of a server humming across the room exactly the same with or without these. Maybe there's some minute lessening of sound (again, putting something in your ears should at least do some noice reduction) but it's imperceptable to me.

Other Brands Don't Compare
There are numerous knockoffs of these 3M earplugs available, including a brand sold by one of the largest home improvement chains. Some are identical right down to the colors of the lanyard and plugs. None of them compares with the genuine 3M plugs.I made the mistake of buying the Brand X plugs at my local home improvement center. The store used to stock the 3M earplugs, so I thought these were identical (same blister pack, same plastic carrying case). They were unacceptable. Unlike the 3M earplugs, the lanyards on the Brand X were very microphonic right out of the package, conducting all sorts of rubbing rustling sounds to my ears. Very irritating. Additionally, it was impossible to form a tight seal between the plugs and my ears, also unlike the 3M earplugs.Yes, the lanyard on the 3M earplugs will eventually also become microphonic and the plugs will stop sealing properly after extensive use, probably due to skin oil exposure. But they never have these problems when new, and it's an indication that it's time to replace them when they finally begin to exhibit these annoyances, generally after about 2 months of daily service.Anyway, I threw away all of the unused Brand X that I had bought and replaced them with these 3M plugs. Perfect! Don't be fooled by the look-alikes on the market. If you want the best performance in the way of noise reduction, buy only genuine 3M. The difference in cost is minimal, and your hearing will be better protected.

Professional but not as useful as needed.
Well... As I work in many different places, I've tried using these out when I need a little more protection... sadly, they let in a LOT more sound than wanted. So protection isn't nearly as good as desired.I will say that they are comfortable and don't cause any ear pain, and do reduce sounds a few decibels, but again, not by a whole lot. They are pretty cheap, and they're professional looking, but... still much prefer my cheap foam inserts over these rubber pieces.

These are Amazing
These fit my ear canals and really block sound well, really well. Maybe, too well. They are reusable and cheap. The marshmallow type don't work that well and the expensive ones aren't good either. These are comfortable, too.
