Graphite Crayons, Assorted Degrees, Non Water-Soluble, Set of 24 Crayons, Black (5623240)

I use these graphite crayons to create my own transfer paper for painting designs. I have found this technique works better than the ready to use transfer paper because it produces fainter lines than the manufactured stuff. I just take the photo I want to to use for the transfer, and use the crayon to lay down a layer of graphite on the back of the sheet. I then turn the sheet over, place it graphite side down on the surface I am going to paint it on and then use a stylus to trace whatever lines I want from the original photo onto the surface to be painted. It is definitely much easier than trying to transfer an image using a projector or light box.

These are so nice for the artists. When you open them they are upside down so you can see what softness or hardness they are and the tips are down. These are wonderful to have to transfer drawings to watercolor paper. I can't wait to start using them because I hate regular graphite sticks that make such a mess. These are water soluble.

PLEASE READ I thought I should let buyers know that I would rate this product a 5+. It is amazing and you can get so many great dark values. BUT the reason for a one rating is Amazon’s fault. The pencil came broken because it was not packed correctly. I need to use the pencil NOW, so I am not returning. But buyers beware that if you are going to buy this product through Amazon, it may not arrive at your door in one piece. I am sorry Lyra for the one star- but I couldn’t find anywhere else to place a complaint.

Ooooh, fun new art supply to play with! Water soluble graphite is new to me and this opens a world of possibilities! Love the way it can serve as a wash. This levels up a simple sketch!

I received the product in damaged product packaging and it was the old style… however the product itself is ok. The Lyra water soluble graphite sticks are awesome, I use them all the time.

I sand down the sticks to create my own graphite powder. This 9B grade produced a really solid dark value I was looking for. The quality is great too. Since it's so dark, a little bit of graphite goes a long way if you only generating midtones. This means 12 sticks should last you a while. I bought it at ~14 bucks so for that price, the value was great!

I am a visual artist always looking for different drawing materials and these pencils are a dream come true. They are smooth, nice to hold into BUT I still don't know how to sharpen them up (since they are kinda thick)I love this product and will for sure buy them again in the future!

Just found these at the bottom of a box. Shipped from Alaska. Only one broke. Carry one in my pant pocket daily for 4 months. It is about a inch used up.

Los recibí ayer y las pruebas que he hecho muestran que son estupendos .Cubren rápidamente por su tamaño y suavidad y el tintado es potente con solo apretar un poco . Acuarelan estupendamente ,tanto es así que pienso crear una tinta de grafito para aerógrafo.

Súper buen producto y muy contento con la calidad, el grafito es súper suave, yo lo he usado para hacer el fondo de mis dibujos ya que busco el negro más obscuro, he usado las barras como vienen y las he usado haciéndolas polvo para ponérselo al papel con un algodón y tener un negro más uniforme y que no refleje tanto la luz, las compré hace 1 año y no me he acabado ni siquiera 2 barras, no las uso más que para los fondos como digo pero aunque las usara para bocetear por ejemplo dudo que se te acaben rápido, por el precio no he visto un producto mejor, algo a tener en cuenta, es 9B, te vas a ensuciar mucho si no tienes cuidado, pero son gajes del oficio jajajaj

Je suis fan absolu. Difficile de dire mieux... Je m'en sers tous les jours comme outil à lavis, après un dessin à l'encre noire indélébile. Surtout des 9B.

What a amazing set - this huge box with crayons. there are 3 hardens in it like 2B, 6B and 9B. They really spark joy to work with it - and all 3 creates different shades of grey tones - LOVE IT :)
