Glo-Toob AAA Waterproof Emergency Dive Light Review
This is a review of the Glo-Toob AAA Waterproof Emergency Dive Light. For anyone needing a marker or mini lantern type of light, there is nothing more simple and durable than this light.Positives:1. Bright and 360 degree pattern.2. Frosted durable resin coating to lightly disperse light (though still a little harsh on the eyes if looking directly at it).3. Tiny (not much bigger than C sized battery) and lightweight.4. Waterproof to a point that it can be used for diving.5. Durable construction that is virtually worry free for hard use (as opposed to the Kriana Krill Light which failed).6. Uses only a single AAA battery, which is common and readily available at stores.7. Has respectable runtime (at least 4 hours on high) considering how bright it is.8. Can be attached to a key ring or a lanyard (both come with the light).9. Three modes of high-low-strobe.10. Easy interface of twist once for high, twice for low, and three times for strobe.Negatives:1. It is a little harsh on the eyes as the plastic/resin sides are only frosted slightly, which means most of the light comes through strong from the 3 LEDs in the light.Overall, I rate the Glo-Toob AAA Waterproof Emergency Dive Light a 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. Glo-Toob appears to have designed things right from the start, which produced a well designed and functional marker type of light or a mini lantern. The one small negative I could think of was very minor and due to the light's strong output. It really does not take away anything from the light. I do wish they designed a AA version of this light.UPDATE: 10/16/15Added some pictures of the Glo-Toob AAA in Red and Blue, including a generic brand in Green that is not quite as good in quality. You can judge the difference in color between all three, and also see the quality difference between Glo-Toob and the generic brand. The Glo-Toob is manufactured to a much higher level of quality, with smooth and opaque plastic, which reduces direct glare from the bright LEDs. The colors are also compared to the Red, Green, and Blue of the Nitecore SRT7 flashlight.

AAA battery!!! Thank you finally!!!!
I bought the original GloToob back in 2006. It was cast out of resin and you turned it on from the top where the key ring is. It used hard to find and expensive batteries. Other than that it worked very well. This new version uses ONE AAA BATTERY!!!! I have another light that looks like a little light saber; works great but uses 3x little watch batteries that are very expensive. The new GloToob looks to be made out of solid, translucent plastic. The key ring mount on top is one piece with the body. The inside is an aluminum sleeve. The battery cap is plastic and has one o-ring to seal out water. Make sure the o-ring is not cracked, free of hair, sand, and debris... If you spend 15 seconds inspecting it every time you switch the battery it should not leak.Twist the cap all the way down and the light turns on. Twist it off a tiny bit and back down again to change the light to it's lower setting. Do it another time and it will go to strobe. The light always starts on HIGH after being turned off for longer than a few secondsLight output is perfect for a marker light. I will be using this as a paddleboard marker light at night and a scuba marker light.

Great Tool!
Very bright on high and VERY sufficient light on low for most tasks. Easily packable and easy to carry spare batteries. Should be useful for camping, bug out bags, gear bags for emergency teams, etc.... as either a marker light or serving as a light source. Run times are right on the money as long as you use name brand cells. Cheap batteries will run down in less than the stated hours. Three mode switching is easy compared to past models. I have the green, red, and white and all perform quite well. VERY pleased with all three. The only thing that I'd like to see changed would be to replacxe the strobe mode with a slower flash. The strobe is quite effective at drawing attention, but a simple double flash with a brief pase would do the same and provide more of a beacon use. Very subjective thought of course....

Excellent rugged marker light!
My friend is a sea diver and uses these for his dives. After seeing him use them in rough ocean use, I decided to grab one myself to replace my glowsticks that I use to be seen. I usually always carry some form of light to mark my location and be seen by friends. From hiking in the dark, climbing at night, cycling or marking the tree that I have climbed up to set up my hunting perch...you can always find a glowstick or LED fingerlight that I have left behind for people to spot. The problem was waste, these glowsticks need to be recycled or thrown away...the LED lights use lithium button batteries...Enter the Glo-Toob.Powered by a single, easy to find, easy to replace AAA battery with an amazing 15 hour battery life. It's bright, durable, water proof and shock proof. What more can you want from a rugged marker light? I attach this to my backpack when I cycle at night and I can be seen from long distances, I use it when I snowboard at night with the lanyard around my neck, I tie it to my tree when I am hunting, I attach it to my dog's collar when we go on night walks and I even used it at Burning Man to be seen in complete darkness.

Stop Don't buy! Change in design, product faulty.
I have been using these lights for many years on my water dogs' collar. Worked great but after years of jumping in and out of the lake at dark, they do start to wear and corrode. I purchased 2 replacements, first one was defective and the bottom cap that screws in the battery just sheared off somehow. Second one never worked right and I had to continually retighten the battery compartment to get it to stay lit, or it would randomly go into blinking mode, which I though would be annoying for the dog. Tried to return but since I didn't replace the old one right away, it has been post 30 days. The change in design to a cheaper one is obvious. I can't imagine this as a safe option for a diver, please do not use as an emergency light, not reliable.
