Does it have a sensor to know when the cat is there

The base does a full rotation every hour, it is that slow that you can hardly see it is moving. No danger of your cat getting caught in any mechanism.

Is this ok with British short hair cats which probably weigh 5/6 kg I worry it be too small Can you use any litter

Hi. I have recently purchased 2 of these and they are excellent. They have seriously reduced scooping and mucking out and odour is also reduced. I have 6! cats. 2 of which are Maine coons weighing 5kg and 8kg. They are very elegant cats and quite precise in their movements so they are ok with the size of the trays but I also have 2 plump tabby cats who are a bit clumsy and don’t always hit the target with solids! So I would say it’s more to do with the clumsiness of your cats rather than size/weight. I use Ever Clean clumping cat litter and it works very well. I also seem to use a lot less cat litter. All round a really good purchase
