Question 1

What is the country of origin? Who does the quality control? Is it an independent company? How do we know it is doing what it says?

Accepted Answer

The company that makes the Tap Master Artesian is The Perfect Water out of Arizona. It is an independent company and they do their own quality control. We moved from an urban area to a rural one in the past year, and I did a lot of research to determine what we would need for this house (we did a substantial renovation of this property). We have been using the system for over a year now, and I have been very pleased. Our plumber told us this was one of the best RO systems around. There was a very noticeable difference in the taste and smell of the water after we installed the system. I just ordered the replacement filters and will have them installed. If you get this system, be sure to order the permeate pump as it helps to fill the under sink tank quicker when you are using a lot of water (like for a big pot of pasta). You can learn more by going to their site, www.theperfectwater.com. I would recommend this company and this system. I hope this helps answer your questions.

Question 2

what does this offer over the apec 6 stage model with remineraliztion? why did you choose this model over the apec?

Accepted Answer

Modular design vs. canister design. Made in the USA vs assembled ("Built") somewhere using Chinese parts.Patented Full Contact remineralization vs an extra filter plugged in at the end.8" of catalytic carbon contact pre-filtration to remove chloramines and maintain high pressure vs. 2 - 1/4" carbon block to draw down water pressure ahead of the membrane which reduces real world production and increases actual waste and doesn't treat chloramines.5 year warranty vs. 1 year warranty.

Question 3

Do the filters last a full year? What is the annual cost for this unit (for maintenance and filter replacement)?

Accepted Answer

The annual filter change set is $79.95 (Iset-tma) and the membrane is $56.00 which should be changed every 3-5 years depending on water conditions. Most users on municipal water supplies can expect this maintenance schedule.

Question 4

What kind of material is in contact with water inside the storage tank?

Accepted Answer

I believe a rubber diaphragm that is rated for purified water so to not have any chemicals leaching into the filtered water.
